another week under my belt, nothing new to report. passed my first truck inspection, I keep it clean but spent extra time on it before I rolled into the yard and the kids in the wash bay hardly glanced inside.

Iowa and Kansas got messed up this week, I got to tarp at Lyons in the middle of a tornado warning the next county over

I was up in WI, IL, IA on my way to Des Moines for PM. While at one of our consignees the fork lift driver was unloading pipe. He didn't pick it up high enough and hit the top corner of my fairing. Of course damaged trucks have to go through Des Moines. They never got to it. I didn't get my PM either, now I'm more than 5K miles over due! Anyway, they had to get me out of there Friday before all the roads closed. I made it out OK, but was listening to the news on the way home and hearing about all the levies bursting. I may not get back up there for another week or two. Now, that really breaks my heart!

It is pretty bad up there! Although, I know you are just heart broken, not being able to spend some R & R at the Baymont! :-)

Glad ya got out of there in time!

What are you doing all the way up in WI on Line haul anyway!

Later!

They had to get me up that way for PM at Des Moines. Anyway, since I have been on "Line Haul" I have been to CA multiple times, to CO, AZ, NM, FL, WI, IL, IA, OH and other states I am forgetting. I have finally convinced my FM to send me on some better paying loads.

Yippers, being linehaul out of TX sure limits the gross on the loads! The rates should be getting a little better for the summer months!

Just before I left, the rates in the areas I was running were not all that great, but I was able to switch to mileage, and actually do much better than the percentage guys. Oh well, made a stupid decision, should have stayed on, instead of falling for the local dedicated deal! Oh well!

Good to hear you are still making it work for ya!

Catch ya later!

OH, if you ever load out of Seguin, give me a call! Between SMC and Bellinger, TMC trucks are in and out of here all the time now!

You have been gone a long time! That is CMC and Berridge! I have loaded at both recently as well as delivered Griffen-Pipe to a job site south of Seguin.

I had a Berridge load with 6 stops plus consignee. I felt like a tourist delivering to every city in the state of KS. That is another place that won't break my heart if I never go there again.

You should come back to TMC, bite the bullet and do the orientation again.

TMC's new policy is to turn down the 70 MPH trucks. Wheel Masters get to keep 70 MPH but are asked to try to limit their speed unless absolutly necessary.

A TMC driver blew past me the other day, which isn't hard because I set my cruise at 62, anyway, I was telling him about the new policy over the CB, but he wouldn't believe me. I think I finally convinced him, as he drew out of range he was telling me how he would never go to a terminal again. Good luck with that. :D

Terry, you have to remember, I am a native of this area, for 30 plus years, it was SMC < so habits are hard to break. And as far as Berridge - all the guys that come through that I help with directions, because they are still wrong on the qualcomm usually sound like Bellinger! I sure miss that sweety that works in the office over there! What a package!

Anyhow, call me when you come into town! Maybe I can roust up a cup of Starbucks for ya! :-)

Will PM ya my number in case you lost it!

Hey terrylamar,

What kid of fuel mileage are you getting running at 62? Just kind of curious. I know the 379 is kot known for fuel economy. If I remember correctly, TMC monitors everyones fuel economy and may even give a small bonus. Not sure though.

Your fuel economy gives you points which determine your pay rate.

I am getting around 6mpg according to my truck computer. This is with the duals now and I am always on the fuel pedal in traffic.

On a side note I was getting about 6.4 mpg with the super singles. Of course I have had to idle a bit some hot days since I am sleeping days and running nights now. So I will split the difference and call it a two tenths of a mpg drop after the switch from super singles to duals.

How are you line haul and long haul guys doing? Home Depot freight is moving like gangbusters right now. I guess since people can't sell their house for as much money as they bought it for they are making improvements. Also they are insulating I suppose if they are buying heating oil.

Saw a TMC truck today that had an old flatbed behind it. It had an orange underbody frame and the trailer itself looked like something you see the Western Express guys pulling around.

That is from the outfit they purchased out of Florida (TDT)! Most of those trailers were 2006 or newer! Judging by the sales site, they are getting rid of most of them anyhow!

I would say the one I saw is in line to get sold eventually. It was real ratty looking. I thought it might have been an old Schneider flatbed one, guess not. :)

I remember from my last trip to Florida, not long after I left, that the TDT terminal had probably 20 or so, that were dedicated grass haulers! Some of those drivers loved doing that stuff! Hauled grass once, just to get the &%$& out of the state! Was not much worth anything coming out of Miami, and none of it paid worth a darn. Really wished I had already been on mileage when that happened! Oh well!

Catch ya later!
