XM has Open Road, with Bill Mack and Dave Nemo.
Does Sirius have anything like that?
I prefer news channels to music channels, but I like the music channels XM has to offer. |

You are going to start an emotional argument ....
Go to the web sites and compare programing.
Just to say Sirius dropped Fox News for Howard Stern ... :P so I dropped them for XM. Plus the Garmin 7200 has a XM radio built in. |

Lol, I don't like Howard Stern or Fox News, so that doesn't matter.
What I do want is Trucking News and plenty of other news options.
I'm leaning toward XM. |

Yeah we have been down this road before.
My personal preference is XM. I had Sirius but they dropped Fox news so I dropped them. For no other reason than that. :) |

I'm a business and finacial news sorta guy. That is CNBC for me, and it is actually on both Siruis and XM. I am also a NASCAR and NFL fan. Sirius just landed the deal for 5 years for Nascar starting in 2007 so I think it will be Sirius for me. I like the variety on XM but these are the deal breakers for me. When I finally start driving I will be adding satellite radio.

sirius did not drop fox news fox news dropped sirius,
i c the xm marks r pumping xm on this thread.
the fact remains before howard announced the move over a year ago thy had only 600000 or so subcribers now way way over 3 million &selling more units then xm ever thought about. and for you rugged hillbillys nascar in 07.
you wanna talk about desperation how about xm paying oprah 55 million dollars to do a half hour show once a week 39 weeks a year for 3 years.
sirius howard, bubba cnbc the list goes on and on those r my 3 favorites. but hey u compare yourself.

| I know that both XM and sirius are in hot water with lack of money. sirius looks to be going under fast. stocks traded at 5 a share while XM traded at 45 a share. but both are leaking money like the titanic leaked water. just going to see who is going under first. |

I personally prefer Sirius to XM. I have used both. While XM offered "more" channels of the genre I'm into, Sirius's was more quality to me. Again, to me. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about XM with the exception of their ridiculously desperate move of signing Oprah Winfrey on to their listing, for $55 million. But eh, who cares? It's not my money. I just think it's kinda insane, especially since she's not even scheduled to participate in the show on a regular basis. I think it's a bonehead move on XM's part, and certainly will not pay for ittself. We shall see I suppose.
Anyways, my mains channels are Octane, Hardatak, Alt nation, Howard 100&101 w/ Bubba the Love Sponge, also Maxim Radio. If I get tired of all that, I'll flip over to Sirius Trucking Network, and sometimes I'll even catch the G. Gordon Liddy show.
Howard Stern's move to Sirius has indeed brought forth a swarm of new subscribers, but I don't know if his move to Sirius is such a good thing. The FCC is always watching -understanding this is a pay service, and can be controlled by the user i.e. channel blocking etc, we never know what's lurking behind the doors of censorship.
Bottom line; both have news, both have comedy, music of ALL genres, talk/entertainment channels, and both have trucking networks. Best play would be to sample the channels from their websites, get a feel for them both, look at the names of those who broadcast on talk shows, etc, and decide from their. I personally think Sirius is better for "me", so that's what I went with on a final note, after an In-The-Cab-Of-My-Truck-Comparison, just to be fair.
Good luck |

Rollover, I'd be interested in knowing who is on the Sirius Trucking Channel and how it compares to XM's Open Road trucking channel.
For instance, XM has Bill Mack. My Dad listened to him 35 years ago while he was trucking, on WBAP AM. I like that.
Also, XM has Dave Nemo, who I remember from WWL's old Road Gang AM radio show.
Does Sirius have anything comparable? |
