| Hey RoadRunner. I saw a Boyd truck today. It was parked in a shopping center in Goldsboro, NC. Think the driver was probably taking a short break. Truck looked pretty decent. So that's all I know, they apparently pull in NC. |

I wouldn't be sold on swift too fast.Explore your options. You can do better if you try.Boyd Bros. require 3 Months experience before you can drive. That's what they told me.Check out Trans-am or US Express. They're automatics and that means less work.Hey! |

He made the place sound really good. Other than that, I'm not sure about them. .
Do ya think they'd let him say bad stuff about em'?
Or that he would be dumb enough to say bad stuff about em? |

Automatics are going to dominate the industry down the road.Alot of companies i've talked to are experimenting with them.Driving schools get you all sold on standard transmissions[atleast where I went to school they did].It's easy to get spoiled on autos.Once people get off the ego-trip that they're truckers they will see it's less stress, pay's the same, and prevents burnout.I personally like shifting straight 10's but it get's meticulous. |

alright looks like we have gone off topic a bit here, i've not heard back from a single boyd bros driver?.
i know you guys are out there,......
I was considering TMC, Boyd Bros, and Mav, still torn between boyd and mav, i've heard a lot of bad on tmc's pay.
i'm out of knoxville, tn, and looking to get in a truck by monday.
if anyone knows of a local to the knoxville tennessee area send me a private message, otherwise i accept the offer from either boyd or mav, but it would be nice to hear back on one of their drivers to spill the beans on how it really is, i've heard the equipment is horrible, but this is coming from my uncle that remembers them when he drove for builders transport back in the early 90's lol.
i'd hope things have changed? |

He used the search function to look up the company he was interested in, duh.
People btch when someone new comes in here and asks if they have heard of "x" company, they're told "use the search function!" then when they do like davidhtn does, people still btch?? So what if the thread is old. |

If you would actually read his post, which you obviously haven't, He writes as if he was the author of the thread which BTW he isn't. |

(EDITED: The pic was not necessary)
He did everything correctly.
If he had started a thread saying "Anybody know about Boyd Bros.?"
to which somebody would reply "Use the search function, jackazz!!!" |

David, I don't think you're going to find much firsthand info on Boyd in this or any other forum. I've search several sites looking for info on them also and there's just not much out there. I have nothing to back this up, but my opinion is "no news is good news". Most of what you will find on these boards will be negative so if you are not able to find anything that could mean that the happy drivers outweigh the unhappy ones at that particular company. Like I said, just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.
What I would suggest is that you find Boyd drivers at truck stops and on the road and talk to them. I've talked to many and I met the first unhappy one this past week. He had almost quit them a couple of weeks ago because his grandmother passed away and it took them longer than he thought it should to get him home from Nebraska to Ohio. He ended up telling me that he was just in one of those "the world is against me moods" that truck drivers tend to get into and he was probably just looking for a reason to be pi**ed at them. Other than him, I have never met an unhappy Boyd driver and that speaks volumes about the company to me.
From the drivers I've talked to, the hometime isn't quite as good as Mav or TMC, at least for my area, but the money is just as good and in many cases better. They seem to run more miles and most drivers have told me that they are seldom home more than 34 hours per week, but they do get home every weekend. All of this will vary from one area to the other I'm sure so I would try to find drivers that live close to me and talk to them.
I know that none of this is firsthand info, but I doubt that you will find much of that on here.
Good luck! |
