More than likely, I'll be using the nickname I got stuck with a few years ago, Han Solo. A guy in my old car club called me that and it stuck. No clue why he called me that lol, but oh well. It's my ID everywhere I post now. And after the 19th, I should have a truck/company to add lol. Hopefully.

Hello. I have actually been putting some thought into this. I remember when I was a kid, I was raised with a reverence for truckers; instilled in me by my Mom and Grandmother. They weren't truckers, but they sure spent a lot of time chatting over the cb's in their cars. They taught us that truckers were respected as the Knights of the Highway and could always be relied upon to help if needed. They made them feel secure when traveling alone with us kids. My Grams was Diamond Lady and my Mom was Scrapper.
As for me, I've been throwing a few around in my mind. My real name is Farrell and I would use that, as in Feral Cat or something, if I liked cats better - I'm a dog person. So I've been reaching back for childhood nicks; being Farrell Lea - there were plenty: Farley, Flea, Ferret, Flaky Lea... Then there's names that are just sort of silly but I like, like CaveLion, Babu, Bollywood (because I love Bollywood movies). I'm pretty much open to anything,I'm just not sure as of yet. Maybe there's help to be found here.Maybe a name the newbie contest!

My DH (Dear Husband) has selected TechNomad or for his since he is your typical computer geek. It fits him rather well. All I know is that I take this very serious because it will be the first time in 15 years that I will be regularly referred to as something other than: Mom or Wife!

I'm gonna have to figure out what handle to use when I start driving. I had a CB back in the '70's when they were really hot. At the time I was driving a white Chevy Vega with red and blue racing stripes...and my handle was American Lemon..which definitely fit that car.
Maybe I'll go with something like S.F.G.. short for Skinny Fat Guy. I used to weigh over 400 lbs. and now I'm only 170.
As it stands now, I'm scheduled to start training in Charlotte, NC on May 2ND with Schneider. I have to go get my DOT physical and drug test next week. After I get out of the Dr's office I'll run over to the DMV to take my endorsement tests and send off the background check. I'm going to take all the endorsement tests (including Passenger and Tanker). I figure if driving an 18 wheeler isn't stressful enough for me, I can always get a job driving a bus load of screaming kids to and from school.![]()

I don't know if anyone else has it, but my handle is Road Angel.
Of course there is a story that goes along with it...
I routinely stop and assist stranded motorist - those who really can't help themselves: Mothers with children, little ol' men and women... As long as there isn't a danger, I do what needs to be done to get them going again. Many stories... I had started to notice how everyone was referring to me as their "road angel", soooo... Now I'm known as Road Angel.
One of the things that I always told them when they offered to pay me for my help (never accepted, won't), was that instead of paying me, they could (those who were physically able to) help others, just like I helped them. I told them how to be careful and watch for warning signs of danger, taught them how to change their tires, batteries... anything that would help. So now there is a "Road Angel" club of sorts here in the Southwest.
I'm not with a carrier as of yet. I'm going into expedite trucking...I'm all ready except for finding my O/O who will hire me to run for him/her.
This is a fun thing. Now we will be able to know who's out and about!
See you all soon! Road Angel

I'm The Lone Ranger. Story:
I don't have my CDL yet but have had a CB for a while. I drive (surprise surprise) a little green Ford Ranger with an 18" magnamount antenna and at least a 2 mile range(sending, anyway, although I had to set up a relay to hear that far)
Well once I was travelling (though I'm more comfortable calling it 'running') from Toronto, Ontario, to Albany, NY in a rainstorm so thick you could cut it with a knife. I was on the Cb just for fun and got in with a pair of father/son tanker yankers. Great guys, we had a real laugh and they sandwiched me between them and we allchatted. Other drivers started trying to figure out who the gal on the airwaves was and we all told them they'd never guess. Well until that time I hadn't really had much of a handle, when asked I'd give either my initials, a variation on my 'real' name or else use FreeFloat, a nickname I use for scuba diving mesasge boards.
Well these two guys told me I should call myself The Lone Ranger since I tend to drive solo, it's a Ranger anyway and it just makes sense. So there you have it.....
BTW I accidentally signed up as FreeFloat by sheer habit but PM'd a Mod about changing my nick here to The Lone Ranger........ but haven't heard back.......
I'm not sure but i think you can change your nick without the Mods help.
