Default Anyone make quilts out there?

I need a bedspread for my bed in the truck. I can't find anything I like. All bed spreads are light in weight, puffy and don't lay down right. So, I want a quilt made. I have a quilt already for a blanket and a goose down blanket. I like a heavy covering over me.

If you know someone here is what I want.

    Twin quilt. 66" W x 86" L
The front side I want in the color "Wine". It can be a pattern but must be prominently wine in color.

The backside color to be a sand color and can be a solid piece of material in cotton also.

I want each section to be approximatly 4"x4" square and sewed around the edges and in an X pattern.

I want the material to be heavy quality cotton along with the filling.

If anyone can make this or know someone that can I would appreciate it. I would like it mailed home when done. I can either send a check, credit card or paypal.

I am open to suggestions. All my cabinets and draws are wine in color

My email is steve@easytrucker.net or 603-377-0056

If you ever run around Amish country this fall you could try there. I see the signs for them along PA 100 headed towards Reading. I tried my hand at quilt making. I finally finished after 7 years. It's heavy with a flannel backing. The ones I have seen in Amish country will cost you $500 and up.

I'm not willing to spend $500 from those people. I'm looking for a quilt made by just a normal person. Not something made from the horse hair of a Palomino horse used in the attack on Troy and 6,000,000 stitches per inch.

The one I have now came from Bed Bath and Beyond and is really nice but not in the color I want so I use it as a blanket under my quilt.

Thanks but no wine colors and they don't even look like a traditional quilt with the 4x4 sown squares.

I'll ask around here...there are a lot of "artsy" types in this area. I think I know what you are talking about. I would offer (because I love to quilt) but, like the pp, I don't think you want to wait 7 years for a quilt. I have 4 started right now!!

Thanks. Yes, your right, I don't want to wait and would like it done sort of quickly.

I was hoping that a whole bunch of grandmothers sitting around doing nothing would come across this post as they googled the word "Quilt" and instantly jumped into action.

Another site you might try is:

And, tell them "FONS" sent you...

There was a Lady on www.loads.org that used to quilt for the trk..

You might go there and post of the Home Connection forum...

If she's still posting maybe she or one of the other crafty ladies would have an idea that could get u a quilt...

Thanks Waco. I remembered that the waitress in the place I have breakfast at home teaches wedding gown dress making on the side and she knows tons of ladies who do quilts. The problem is going to be finding one who has the time.

She suggested finding a light sold color quilt the type I want and dying it wine. The only problem is finding that color dye and what will it look like.

What a pain for such a simple thing.

Do you have any idea how much time and effort is involved in making a true, legitimate quilt?

no he doesn't. even a machine quilted quilt takes time.

do you want a quilt to use as a blanket, or a bedspread? meaning are you going to sleep under the quilt, or will it be for show on top?

jc penney has a large selection of both quilts and coverlets

if sleeping under it, try the "lenny" on page 3 under quilts, that's your colour

for show, try the "loire" pattern in merlot under coverlets

i would normally link to them directly but for some reason the url tags have stopped working for me. tiny was the only way i could do it.

don't let the matelassé fool you, they can be oppressive to sleep under.

either way you can order and have it shipped to a store or your house, returns go back to any jcpenney catalog desk (1500) across the country. prices are reasonable. hth

Like I said in my original post, it's a bedspread and I've found someone to make it and it will be done before I get home.

And stop following me Rev. I've already told you what I am and am not in a PM so GIVE IT UP.

Huh? I've received no PM's from you. I think you are becoming delusional.
