    Default Ever have Lucille Ball or Tim Taylor Moment?

    I guess there is a reason I live alone, no one gets to see the stupid moments.

    I was putting together the new Adirondack chairs (couldn't fit the assembled ones in the Civic) and apparently NOT paying attention. I evidently used the wrong size screws to attach the slats to the back because I wound up screwing the whole thing to my deck. :evil:

    Here lies the problem....Not that you "screwed" up the assembly of your chairs. You need a full size carbon emitting, gas guzzling, Globel Warming causing.....Pickup. :wink:
    May I suggest a Ford F450, dually....Problem solved.

    I learned a long time ago sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself! Glad you enjoyed it, so did my neighbor. I've lived here 3 years and watching this little fiasco he finally decided to come over and introduce himself and see if I needed any help. UUUHHH Nope! :evil:

    Yes it was pretty funny! I'm still laughing about it. I did mke myself late for my Union meeting though. And about the Civic, right now I'm pretty pleased with getting 36 mpg, so I'll deal with not being able to haul home a pair of chairs. :wink:

    one of my finer moments:
    its three oclock in the morning and I decided that the leaking faucet in the bathroom needs to be fixed then because I can't sleep. (never worked on faucets before) I pop the cap off the cold water knob and see a screw. ok tighten screw and water will stop running. wrong! now its worse. ok loosen screw and see how this thing works. I look at my wife and say "i'm really not sure how this works" just then the knob pops off and water goes shooting everywhere to make it worse the plumber who plumed the house had NO shut offs to any of the sink lines. only shut off was in basement. I now know that there is a little rubber seal inside a faucet that goes bad and that is why they leak. I also learned how to replace drywall and ceilings
    work harder, millions on welfare are counting on you !

    Ah, home repairs. I typically do all that in my house...I learn as I go if I don't know how to do it. One of my finer moments was just 2 weeks ago replacing a faucet in the downstair bathroom.

    Imagine laying down with your head up inside the cabinet and right under the sink.

    Imagine working with plumbers pliers (large and heavy) on a particularly difficult nut, right above your head.

    Imagine the pliers slipping out of your hand.

    Imagine gravity.

    Your house is always a good place to do home repairs. After all, if you did them in your car, or at work, or at the beach, they really wouldn't be considered home repairs, now would they? :P

    Plumbing is one area that I've learned it's better to pay someone else to do. It was a garbage disposal incedent. I'd really rather not talk about it.

    Good to hear that I'm not the only one who has, maybe we should call them Tim Taylor moments. :wink:

    This summer I plan on putting a new railing on the deck and painting the house, so it's going to be an interesting summer. :wink:

    Ouch! :nervous: I own, not one, but two different sizes, of under sink wrenches because you know there is no such thing as a "standard" size anything. :evil:

    Yep. Pliers + Head = wife saying "Watch your language!" :P

    I had another one a few years back. I was breaking down a large wooden frame and went to stomp on a board in order to pull it from another board...attached together with 10 penny nails. At about the same moment I did that, I realized that I had just had a blonde moment and forgotten to brace the board it was attached to with a foot or something. So, it acted like like a catapult, bringing the unimpeded other board up toward my backside at rapid speed...

    ...it was a board that had already been pried frome a different board that was attached to it.

    ...and it still had a 10 penny nail driven through it.

    Let's just say that I'm glad I have pretty good reflexes and that the trip to the emergancy room was to patch up the nail hole in my hand instead of my derrier.

    Wow, T/F..... the way you described that in detail..... even "I" saw that one coming!! You didn't see that coming?? (well, you DID.... but just in time!) Look on the bright side, absent the offending nail, you may have just invented the perfect (as seen on TV) um..... "personal azzkicking device"..... for those very Tim Taylor moments! You could get rich!

    I'll take one! And RoadHog should be good for a couple! And REB could use one, too! ...... but someone will have to help her assemble it!

    Now, as for the plumbing incident...... you mean you weren't protected by that cowl (mask) you wear?? You should know better than to tackle the enemy in "civilian" clothes! :wink:

    Geee...I think I've just had too many to count...

    But the funniest one I can think of was last winter...

    I was making an attempt for the umpteenth time to chain up...so there I was laying under my truck...again trying to do up the little hook between the duals (triples) & unknown to me at the time there was this HUGE lump of frozen snow & mud that wasn't so frozen anymore hanging from somewhere under there... I never saw where it came from! And just as I got up on my hands and knees to crawl out down it comes & lands on the back of my head & shoulders where it promptly fell apart going, you guessed it, down inside my coat & shirt! Well...I let out a blood curldling screech & promplty wacked my head on the fender...damn down I went again...getting MORE snow in my shirt!

    Moral of story...make sure no snow attached to frame where you are going to lay under your truck!!!

    Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says "oh crap, she's up!"
