What is the wheelbase measurement on your truck? I have been told I can't run the western part of Canada because my truck is too long. Is there some sort of permit I can get because I would love to do an Alaska run. Thanks, Moe

Maximum allowed without a permit in Alberta is 244", I think you can permit up to 320", but that is for special cricumstances. I also believe in BC that is max period, I don't believe they have permits for longer wheelbase, but don't quote me on BC's rules, since I no longer run there I tend to not pay much attention anymore :-) I believe with BC is because of the narrow, windy, mountainous roads....I recall when 48' trailers were too long for BC....it really wasn't that long ago either LOL. Best would be to check with BC Transportation.

Nope, I pull LCV ( long combination vehicle) extended length, so 244 is MAX.

My truck ... company trailers...overall length 31 metres... maybe 110ft(?)

I had seen where you were from and what you did and I figured you were the best person to ask. I appreciate you taking the time to answer for me maybe one of these days I will get up there but not in this truck I guess. I have been to ON, NB, NS but I really want to come up to the western side of Canada.

How long is your truck BTW? I haven't heard of any guys having trouble running into Alberta or SK with longer trucks, but, up here BC means "Beyond Canada" or more commonly "Bring Cash"

so I would be EXTREMELY careful about knowing the rules BEFORE you go there :-)

Am not sure about the Yukon, I haven't been there is years...get this...in the old days you bought your licence plates in the liquor store in the Yukon. Both registry & liquor was owned by the gov't so to save money they had them in the same place, often same store LMAO... the good old days :-)

Good luck with it, hope you find the info you need...if all else fails the phone numbers for the scales are listed...give em a call...our scale guys aren't like yours...they are friendly & for the most part helpful :-) But then they aren't cops either. :-)
