    Default Ignorant male coworkers

How would you respond to male truckers/coworkers who say to you 'the boss likes you only cause he wants to do you?'

honestly I wouldn't respond to them nor give them the time of day from here on out. All they did was show you how insecure they are about Who they are and their abitity to do the job. Obviously your a threat in their mind, so clearly You have the power to show them 'why' you were hired and that your a darn good driver and employee. ........... I've heard these kind of comments in times past and at first it made me mad. Then after thinking about it - realized they only showed their true colors. Keep your head up high and walk proud.

I agree with For4Roses. I'd just keep quiet and not say a word. I wouldn't stoop to their level or give them the satisfaction of a response. I find you acheive more by saying nothing. It speaks volumnes. Congrats on your new promotion Malekat. Drive safe everyone.

Thank you for congrats on promo. But they do not know that i am their new boss yet so i don't think they are jealous of what i have earned. But the way they are behaving will have an impact on them when they do find out. You ever heard the saying be nice to people because you do not know who they are

While they may not know they can see that you are out there busting hump and getting the atten of upper mgt while they are just sliding by thinking if they do the min amount of work they will be worked up the ladder.

Remember tho just cause they wronged you dont take it out on them when your boss cause mgt sees that too. You just have to show them that your the better person and keep it to bizness.

    I wish you luck 8)

naw they will just say your blowing the boss and thats why your where you are now. Just make sure you watch them a lil close cause they may try to get you to mess up and will be nice enough to point it out to the boss everytime.

Oh you mean like keeping a journal of who said what when and who was present, catching it on tape etc. Clever girl huh? when i posted this question i was interested in how other women have handled this kind of behaviour or if others had run into it, but i do thank you for your input and concern.

Do you act in such a way as to not "egg on" that type of treatment? I've never had anything said to me like that.
Really if it ticked you off enough, its sexual harassment and can be pursued as such.

I don't really see those type of coments gender based as it happens to men too. Take the (do you) coment the same as a guy takes the (azz kisser) coments... At my curent job, I knocked alot of drivers way back in the "pecking" order... What ever, Best man wins  J/K Just be a good worker and let them say what they will. It hapens to all of us, boys and girls.

I would have replied to the male co-workers/truckers, "I see, is that why the boss likes you so much too?"...

Then again, I do like to get a good sarcastic jab in once in a while.

I wouldn't let it bother me though. When I was younger I worked in the automotive repair field. There were a few men who were bent out of shape about a woman being in the garage. Heck, I was even sworn at with some pretty vulgar remarks by one mechanic.

Turned out after he saw how much I knew about cars, and repairs, and all the hard work I put in, he changed his mind.

He ended up leaving the garage maybe a year later. But, when he left he shook my hand, apologized, and said how much he respected me, and that he'd never put a woman down again, who wanted to work in a male dominated profession... Turns out everyone in the garage thought the guy was jerk, and they were glad to be rid of him.

But, to this day, I still remember that, and in a way, it was nice to have proven myself through hard work, and have it noticed. I think that's all any of us ever want from our jobs, or careers, is to know that what we do isn't going unnoticed. At least at raise time...
HE SAID I HAD TO CHOOSE...
    HIM, OR THE ANIMALS...
    WE MISS HIM SOMETIMES...
