    Don't forget : Follow-up when the invoice isn't paid. :P

Yeah! what they said. ^ AMEN In some cases you have to help UNLOAD the stupid truck.

Why in the world would ANYBODY want to marry a trucker? Are you wanting to add some grey hair and wrinkles to your style? You'll work like a dog and still be broke all the time! Forget the diamond ring, hun. You'll be lucky to get an onion ring! LOL RUN!!

I keep comng back to this thread, and it keeps coming back to ME!

SO much disinformation, and so many "dreams!"

Marrying a trucker is not so different than marrying anyone else! If someone.... like the O.P...... puts TOO many "restrictions" on what they WILL accept, they are asking for failure. People are individuals.... not "virtual" recreations of a man or woman! Not ALL women have perfect curves, and not ALL men are dedicated viewers of "The VIEW!"

To ASK for a man who doesn't like sports, is to ask for a woman! Personally..... "I" am not the biggest sports fan..... but, I have a FEW that I like to follow when I CAN! The O.P. exceeded her RIGHT of choice, when she asked for someone who liked milking COWS!

ONLY a "plastic" person.... one concerned only with THEIR life..... puts caveats on the career, or intellectual interests, of the man she would LIKE to meet!

MY parents are QUITE different, yet they've been happily married ALL MY LIFE! How MANY of you can say the same? Divorce is a reality of the current state of American Life.... as are "previous children!" Get OVER it... and learn to deal with it!

I don't know what it's like to marry a trucker..... I haven't found a woman yet who isn't SO "self-centered" as to rule this out! But then.... I'm not looking!

But, I believe my MOTHER would have been such a woman! SHE married a Preacher.... without knowing where she would live, or how often she would see him! They just don't MAKE women like that anymore!

ONE thing I know is this..... it is not conducive to "shop" for the type of man (or woman) you WOULD like to marry! The MORE we "shop," the pickier we get! The MORE it become about "US" and the LESS it becomes about THEM.... even THO we think our requirements are ABOUT them!

Please don't confuse "truckers" with O/O's!!! Although, you might choose one who IS.... you also might choose one who DOESN'T require you to be an accountant and business manager! He JUST might ONLY need you to be a homebuilder and a MATE willing to sacrifice a bit for NOW, for a better future!

It is TRUE that MANY "truckers" are on the road for long periods of time. So... what does it MATTER if he watches SPORTS while he's gone, instead of SHORTS?! What MATTERS, is what he CARES about while he is HOME!

And THAT..... will depend much MORE on what kind of woman YOU ARE!

I will NOT address drinking, drugs or smoking. THAT is something that only YOU can decide. But, I know of MANY successful relationships where, in moderation, these things were tolerated!

However, notwithstanding religious or moral beliefs and "necessities," putting RESTRICTIONS on the man/woman you will fall in love with, is to usurp the blessings of GOD and the ANGELS! It is to deflect the arrows of Cupid, and to deny and CONTROL that mystical feeling that IS "love!"

Trust me folks.... I KNOW what it is to OVER-ANALYZE a relationship..... and in doing so..... I've missed out on SEVERAL relationships that could have been lifelong JOY! A "marriage" by defintion is a JOINING of "separate" parts into a single WHOLE! It takes work.... sure... but NOTHING good is gained without effort!

Working towards a "perfect union" requires sacrifice that makes EACH of us a better person! Anything that comes too easily is detrimental to our OWN self growth! [Witness a woman abuser who finds a woman who will let him continue in his depravity!]

And another thing.... the OLDER we get, the HARDER it is to FIND such a person! NOT because they aren't OUT there! But, because like US.... THEY are getting "locked into" their expectations! Two pillars of stone, with only their "expectations" between them!

Pillars of stone live FOREVER, with only minor loss of mass to the elements! PEOPLE don't live that long! Anyone OVER 45 is litterally "half dead!" If you haven't found that "perfect mate" by NOW.... YOU might be the problem!

Time is running out! IF you doubt me...... take a day to visit a "retirement home!" Ask the "survivors" what they thought about their lifelong mates who have preceded them. I guarantee that every ONE of them will tell you of every VICE they hated about their spouses..... AND how much they loved them anyway, and how their lives are incomplete without them! THEN, they will tell you how they have acquired the strength to carry on without them!

Then, look over there..... in the corner..... at the one who is withdrawn and all but 'lifeless." THAT will be the one who has no family, no legacy, and no memories of LOVE in their life! THAT would/might be ME!

HOW to marry a Trucker??? Like you would anyone ELSE! With RESPECT and committment.... and an EXPECTATION that together you can build a LIFE! With the KNOWLEDGE that, by GIVING your life to that person, you will be GAINING a life!

Being afraid to ride the rollercoaster, means going home from the fair with ONLY the cotton candy! And only a lifetime of REGRETS!

The word is MATE, not BAIT.
