Not sure that there's anyone as "desperate" for drivers as CREngland.

I talked with a recruiter from Prime the other day, they have a training program they offer. If my local training plan doesn't work out i might consider going that route myself.

Geez people! YOU pay for your school! You sign a contract ether way and are responsible for paying whomever trains you to gain the knowledge to aquire the CDL. YOU are on the hook as well you should be. You get the training, you have to pay for it one way or the other. If you go to any school you will sign for the amount for the training. The company will then sign another contract with you to pay the note for the training as long as you work for X amount of time and then the training is paid for.. but make NO mistake, you are recieving and you are paying for the training wherever you decide to go. NOTHING is free!!!

Like what fozzy said, in the end you will pay for it - one way or another. You will either pay for it with payroll deductions from whatever company you sign on with or by yourself. This is NOT a get something for nothing plan. Check with your local community college to see if they have a sponsored driving program or if they know of one nearby. Failing that, pick up the phone and call the recruiters. Who do you call - the ones that are in this post as well as others. Swift, Werner, Stevens, CRST, etc. Be prepared to pay your dues, Be prepared to get what you can.

Prime doesn't seem to bad after a lot of research and if you stay with them a year after you go solo then you won't pay for that training other than servitude for that year. They had the best starting pay of anyone I could find as well. You should talk to some individual schools to though, a buddy of mine stumbled onto the fact that some schools take your employment application info and hand it out to different companies and those companies will make a prehire offer that pays for the school aside from a much smaller down payment compared to paying the whole tuition yourself.

Why not find a school that accepts the Pell grant and see if you qualify? Then your cdl training will be free. Just a suggestion.
