you mean your permit test?
well whatever it is, im really new to this and dont know anything about trucking schools.
what im getting at is i'd hate to pay 2 or 3k for school and end up failing.
well most good schools will do anything to help you succeed with in reason. The school that I went to drilled you for a week straight and sent us all down to take the test. I would guess 40% of the people had to take a section over but most past the 2nd time. (I passed all 3 tests the 1st try!!!) I have only heard of a few people that had a very hard time, but they are the ones that don't pay attention in class. Now thats NYS who knows how the tests are in you home state.
well if you have time to study do so before school and go take the written tests even before you start school. if you pass you pass if not take it with the class after they taught you. I guess you would have to get a DOT physical first so that might not make much sense to take it on your own. sorry didn't think that one threw
well at least your school isn't going to cost you 8 grand like mine did.Originally Posted by Maximum Destruction
drilling is good, i know i'll need it.i have did practice tests at home and didn't do too bad but that was last year so hopefully i can remember them again

you will do fine then. hopefully the fact that you are nerved up will help your attention in class. most of this stuff if explained properly make fairly common sense. good luck
Max .... here's a site that you can practice taking any test you with ...
http://www.testprepreview.com/cdl_practice.htm ....
I suggest you do as I and others have done ~ go to your local Tag Agency and ask for the 'free' CDL manual ... study it when you have time ... this is the same book a school will work out of. It's only as hard as you make it ... when I first went out on the hwy all I did was pick up this manual - study it at home and went took the permit test .... after passing it I found a company that would hire me with only a permit and teach me the rest. Now a days ..... companys won't do that - Insurance companys tell the trucking companys what to do and how to do it. :?

You might want to check into this link. It's the state of IL website concerning the CDL. It also allows you to download the study guide.

Can't really tell you what IL rules are, but in TX you are allowed to take your permit and driving tests multiple times.
Do you understand the process of how you get your CDL and get a job as a driver?

In Illinois you get 3 attempts on your written test. If you fail 3 times you have to wait 30 days to try again. The school will teach you what you need to know to pass the test.Originally Posted by dle

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.Thomas Jefferson- Democratic-RepublicanResponsibility is the ability to choose your response. Victims choose to be controlled by outside forces, Responsible people maintain control by making a choice.

Scary huh? That's both the written and driving!
Jay
That cristcdl is a good one. We had a guy in our class that was always telling stories about past events and backed our class learning time up. You need to read your book and use these web pages for quizes and it will help out alot.Originally Posted by RebelDarlin
Jay, you never complained when I went and took those tests for you. At least you got your license. And $350 was a steal, compared to my neighbor wanting to charge you $750.Originally Posted by jayburd

Yeah, I see the guy driving in and around Ennis quite often. So he gets a number of takers. And yeap its $350 US dollars, he doesn't take that southern stuff.
Who's going to tell the original poster that he's going to be studying his petunia off to pass all the written tests. Then he's going to be practicing his petunia off (if they allow him the time) to pass all the driving tests. Then he's going to have get his pre-hires to companies. Figure out what company he wants to go to , go to their orientation. Then 6 or so weeks with that companies trainer before he gets a truck.
Oops, I guess I just told him.
