Isn't this the same school that had some legal complaints against them for misleading potential students? Either way, $7k + interest is highway robbery! Plenty of other community colleges that offer 10 week courses for way, way less than $7K.

Yes, wayyyyyyy too much time on my hands. The more I research this crap the more some of it stinks. Anyway, I haven't called them back to check on parking at the terminal yet. I need to find a reasonably priced school first.

yep jim same school but they now have there act together think at that time there was a different director but don't know for sure any way at my interview they made sure they did not give any false hopes. the only gaurantee they made is to get my cdl at no additional cost no matter how long it takes and there financial aid package is good federal loans at a payback rate of $50 a month seems good to me since i will go to a company like MARTEN that offers tuition reimbursement i should not have to worry about paying da bill so thanks everyone for your comments, concerns,or complaints all i know is 10 weeks in class room and 10 weeks on the field and road is gonna teach me lots more than them 3 week crash courses that are out there

There aren't any community colleges that teach truck driving in Massachusetts though.

Are there any community colleges in CT that offer a course?

This NETTS thing sounds good because of the hours, you can get the CDL while still working your normal job. Helps keep medical benefits for the family ttoo. $7K though, that's a lot. Does it matter if you have a Class B already? We're looking for some sort of course that isn't really for new drivers, DH has been driving a tow truck, fire truck & cement truck for 20 years.

Good luck with the course. I see it is run in coordination with NETTS. How long is it and what is the tuition fee? Is it a fairly new offering there?

    Hey Snake_Ize,

They have been running the school for 2 yrs, as far as the tuition' I'm not really sure what it costs for the full program. I'm only taking a 80 hour refresher course, which cost $2500.00,already have my CDL. The full course runs a total of four weeks, 8 hrs a day, 1 week in classroom, the remainder out driving and manuvers.

Striker, that is the same place I went to. When you start practicing out in the yard, ask wayne about his one and only time driving through new york city.

    Hey Hat Rack,

I'm starting out in the yard on Monday and I'll be sure to ask Wayne about his trip to N.Y.C. When did you attend the school ?

February of '06. Since then they've repaved the lot so that the Mass State Troopers can have the driving test there in the yard. All the trainers are pretty cool. Hope you enjoy the refresher!

Just so you know, if they haven't gotten rid of Truck #48 yet, it doesn't have any power steering

No one make the same mistake I did by going to Parker Professional Driving School in Avon, MA.

I almost failed the road course section of the state test because it was set up entirely different from the course we practiced on for 2 weeks at the school. The test course was much more narrow and tight. 2 weeks' training pretty much thrown out the window at that point.

A school that can't even set up the cones correctly has a major problem. Granted, the layout was the same, but the state cop's course was at least half the size!

I should have gone to NETTS.
