Default cost of trucking school!!! what shoud I do?

    Hi,

I have narrowed my choices of companies I would like to work for down to 2. One offers a full meal deal school which is valued at 4k with a work commitment of 6 months. The other company does not and my option would be to attend my local school which is 6k(US Trucking School) but I would have to finance it. 150 down and 150 a month with 19.25 % interest. Now that is the part I don't like. Also how can a school offer a class for 6k when others schools offer the same class for half that cost. I am a little confused and don't want to pay 6k for trucking school.

    Question:

Am I better off letting the trucking company(CRST) pay for my school which includes hotel, Food, transportation etc. or go through my local school? when I ad up the cost of the local school with fuel and everything else figured in the total would come to around 7K. :? :? :?

    Thanks for the help,

    Sean

Have you checked the community colleges in your area?

In either choice you will probably be stuck with a debt that will have to be paid. I don't know what CRST does, but they might have you sign a promisory note for the cost of the training, etc etc etc.

This link: http://truckdriversparadise.wordpress.com/ will take you to my site with
    -Good / Bad Trainer
    -Carrier Information (Excel Only)
-Job Hots Search file (Excel and Web Page)
-as well as links to pictures for you to look at.

Expediting is different, but the same, but it's different. I'm so confused.

7k @ 19.25% a year interest. The interest alone will kill you. Just me, but I would run from that deal. If that's the only school option I would start looking at companies to get your CDL. These schools are in it for the money, nothing else.
