Default questions about the WIA.. fixing to go to cetral tech

    Hi Okie,

I've been reading the posts from you Okie. I have a meeting with the unemployment office August 22nd to see if they will help me go. Did you go through them also? The tuition, I see, went up on July 1st to $1800 for central tech.
Did they pay for meals, gas, and rooming also? I am on unemployment and husband in disabled so I need ALL paid for. I will drive there sunday nights and come home friday nights.
Did they pay for your DOT physical also? If not need to find a cheap place close to Holdenville to get it done.
I will be teaming with my sister working for CFI. She teams with her husband now, but that will change when I get through schooling. She also went to central tech and said it was GREAT. But she paid her own way... unfortunately I need help for it.
Hoping to make the aug. 29th class, but depending on WIA will probably be the Sept. 19th class. Anyone else going then???
PLEASE reply asap IF you get this!

    Default Good Luck to you

Have you checked on CFI's "Tuition assistance program? I do not think it helps as much as WIA but also a good deal if WIA does not work. The WIA paid for my school, room rent, and the CDL fee. No food, no gas, no haz mat fees. I have heard of some getting sweeter deals, but not sure if you can get anything else. I do know the states Fiscal year started in July so they should have a little more leeway on spending. Anymore questions feel free. Some days may take longer than others to answer

CFI only pays a partial amount. You will have to pony up $1500.

I received letter from cent tech today. It gave tuition running $2500 with meals. Everything included but MVR, DOT physical and gas.
It said at the bottom they had not funds to help out.

I have appointment august 22nd with employment office for WIA.
Since my unemployment check is only $164/wk and husband disability check is only $525/mth I'm hoping they will help me with all. If not the gas I can probably get my dad to help there. I can't pay any tuition, etc.

How long you think will take for them to approve? Unemployment runs out in about a month.

I will call CFI after my WIA appt to see if they can help any if they don't pay all.
I desperately need to get to school like yesterday!

    Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

As I said before, CFI will not pay all of your training. You will have to pay $1000 for tuition(they pay the rest), food, hotel and transportation to school. They estimate for the three weeks you're in school it will cost you about $500 in addition to tuition. So you're looking at paying $1500 of your own money for CFI.

WIA will probably take at least a month to get funding. I've heard from people who have used it that it's taken as long as 2-3 months.

    Thanks greg for the reply.
I will be calling Christine at CFI tomorrow, Monday.
Then I can see if WIA will help with what they don't pay. I guess if I have to wait the few months I will have to. I definately don't have the rest of money, and no one in family does.. So I have no other choice. When I finally get in, then get going, it will be worth the wait.
I know CFI is great, my sister and bro-n-law are owner/operators for past 2 years. Before that he drove co. truck. Neice's husband also drove co. truck for them. My daughter is 17, as of this Tuesday, and with husband only getting 525/mth on disability, there's nothing else to do. AND since I use to go 48 states with husband I know what is in store for me out there LOL. I"m not going in blind. Just glad I got some training, driving, while I was with him.
    THANKS AGAIN GREG!

I know you want to tem. But have you looked Schneider? Their schools are PTDI certified and they provide your meals. Plus the pay all the tuition if you stay a year or so. Just a thought.

Thanks greg I am creating an account to view stuff in the cfidrivers forum now.
And as far as Schneider? I appreciate the info but my sister is staying with CFI and I'm going with her for at least the first year. I'm not ready to be alone on the road. She is a LOT more tougher than I am LOL.
    Thanks again hun
