Default Truck training schools in oklahoma??

I am interested in going to school for my CDL and need to know what school to pick in Oklahoma. I would like to stay close to home (OKC) but not real familiar with the schools in the area. I know of a few but they are different in hours and cost. I know I don't want to do one of those contracts with a company, but is there another way to get through without paying to much. Please help me out. Thanks

Default Central Tech

In Drumright, between OKC and Tulsa. Closer to Tulsa.
From what I have researched and heard, "One of the most respected in the business." Plus, only 1500 give or take for okie residents. If I understand right, CFI is now prequalify and they will help with tuition. They even have CFI only training sessions as well. It is PTDI certified which most all respected carriers prefer. I am still a wannabe, but have done lots of research. CFI sounds like a hell of an outfit in its own right as well. Good Luck

Default Thanks

Thanks but that seems a little far for me. What about the ones on the southside of OKC?? I heard there is one near I240 and another one in Moore. Those would be better. Has anyone heard of those two. I plan on starting in the next month or so. Any help would be great.

Default $$$$$$$

I guess if you want to spend  $3000-$5000  for training closer to home, thats up to you. I drive from Vinita to OKC and back with my current job about twice a month. I would say Drumright is an hour from OKC via turnpike.

CVT in drumright is a really good school, and quite a few of the OK based companies have a deal with them (arrow, john christner, to name a couple) where they'll pay your tuition if you stay for X amount of months. CVT also has housing on site, i believe.

there's also driver training in moore, arbuckle truck school in ardmore, caddo kiowa vo tech in ft cobb, just to name the other couple i have on my school list.

Default Trucking Schools in Oklahoma

I just finished my CDL training at American Truck Training in OKC. I'm sure you will hear good and bad about all the schools but for the most part, I enjoyed my time at this school. I live north of OKC in Edmond so I was able to drive back and forth. I made friends with some of the instructors and respect them for what they do. A person has to make the best of the situations they are put in. There were people there that I did not enjoy being around but there was more I did enjoy being around.
I was blessed with being able to pay cash for the tuition so I am not obligated to anybody. The Lord brought me to it and I knew he would bring me through it. Where ever you decide to go, just enjoy and learn from those that have been there!
