I just graduated from CTDTS. I didn't look at any other schools. I had heard of CTDTS before and I checked the BBB and talked to the recruiter there. I also talked to unemployment agency people about them since they train people under WIA.

There is full time training during the week and there is weekend only training Saturday and Sunday. It takes from 20 to 24 class days to get through there full time.

The full time training takes place from 7:30AM to 6PM Monday through Thursday with a half hour for lunch and with Friday off.

They will work with students. The chief instructor once assured everyone that the school will work with people and will get people graduated if it takes more time.

They require 20 hours driving on the road (plus I think it was 40 observing) including three overnight.

The school has certified examiners on staff and they conduct the PTI, backing and road tests.

You practice your PTI every morning from 7:30 to 8:30.

You spend a week in the classroom before going out in the yard to practice backing for a week or more and then on the road to observe and to drive.

They expect you to get your permit Friday of the second week.

Trucking company recruiters come there just about every day in the morning for an hour.

I can't compare them to anyone else but I heard from students and recruiters a number of times that CTDTS is a premier school in the southeast.

The school has some very good instructors. They are serious about doing it right.

I believe I saw Schneider training trucks running bobtail where CTDTS holds its gear range in NW Charlotte.

One more thing. The school has a policy against right turn on red for student drivers. It wasn't advertised and I didn't find out about it until my road test.

schneider is the only one local that i know of but do you have to have a company train? can you pay for school yourself or go threw unemployment ?it would be alot better if you were to go to school yourself then get hired with someone.i'm going with ctdts then find someone to go with.
