Want a truly portable microwave

Give the WAVEBOX a look.

not sure, but wouldn't 660 watts be a bit much for a 12v dc plug in??

I was wondering the same thing...but it says it can be run on 12v...

Uturn2001 01-13-2007 02:17 AM

It says it needs a 12 volt outlet with a 12 amp rating or more and it will work.

There may be some type of technology that maximizes the input voltage internally. I have no idea how it works. Just seen this, and it is the only one I have ever seen that says it can plug into a 12 volt outlet.

if it works the way they say it does...then it would a great item for those who drive for companies that do not allow inverters

I ordered mine through cabelas and it has been backordered until late april early may due to the high demand. I let everyone know how it works when it arrives. If someone gets one anytime soon let us know how it works.

Anyone ever receive and test one of these...wondering how well they work.

I have called and spoke to the manufactors of the wavebox and learned a little more of how it works. when it is plugged into 110volts it has 600 watts but when it is plugged into the cigarette lighter it only has 175watts. Not a lot of power but is still better than the alternatives. especially when you cannot use the big inverters. Mine is still backordered but I will update when it comes in.
