Is the fan clean? Is the cooling block (looks like a block of aluminum with fins) clean? Is the fan running 'normal' speeds?

Any of those types of coolers will overheat quickly if you don't keep the fan area clean, even if it means taking it apart to do it.

Ya - just open up the area around the fan/vents. You'll see the block that needs to be cleaned. If it's getting old, you may have to replace the fan. Those motors aren't the best and wear out.
