Music solutions in big Rigs?

I'm looking for a little help down the road when I get a laptop for the truck.

I'll have my Sirius radio with 100% of the time, but I have all my cd's loaded into itunes that I want to take on the road with me.

Does anyone know of a way to hook it up through the stereo system of the truck.

I won't have a truck issued to me for a few weeks, so I don't know what will be in it.

I'm that some of you guys/gals can tell me what you use on the road, so I can start looking into it.

Hmm, a little on the pricey end. Plus I don't want to remove anything from the truck since it will be a company vehicle.

if the truck has a cd player you can use this, just plug it into your headphone jack on your laptop. most truckstops have this

I don't know anything about which models of radios that Sirius uses, but I have an XM radio (SkyFi 3) that will accept a SDRAM card. You can play mp3's off of the card then.

Maybe find something similar that Sirius makes?

There are a couple of options available, 1 is if you have a tape deck, to use a tape converter, it has a headphone wire coming out of it, and will plug directly into any headphone jack, and the sound quality is very good. You can use an FM Transmitter, but frankly they suck, go in and out, only get FM quality sound, and you will get a lot of interference with it. Another option which would work really good, would be to use a device that hooks up directly to the radio's antenna, in between the antenna and the radio. They make them with headphone wires that come out of them, and works on the same idea as the FM Transmitter, but will have no interference issues, and good sound quality. This method is generally the best, but in a truck you will most likely have to pull the radio out to put the box in.

When I was with swift, I took the factory radio out, and put my own in, my radio had built in support for mp3 devices, an input jack, etc. Plus I had 1000 watt woofer under my bunk . All of which only took me maybe an hour to install, and 10 minutes to uninstall and re-install the factory radio. No way to tell the difference .

If I ever get my own truck, I'll pull the factory radio out and replace it with an in-dash touchscreen monitor for the computer. I'll then add a small amp for the speakers (maybe 25-50 watt per channel) that'll run the audio from the pc.

pfft, there ain't nothing wrong with having lots of power! I used to love freaking people out, sometimes I would purposely find the loud mouths on the CB, park it next to them, and crank up my system. Could never drive like that though, made my mirrors rattle too bad.

I use a Logitech surround sound system I got for about $70 at Wally World. It's got 5 satellite speakers and a floor bass unit. It'll run nicely off of a 300W inverter.

I have the same radio. Very cool. Even lets you record songs off the XM and mix them into your mp3 playlists. It also has an aux input jack. It'll remove from the dock and work as a portable.

Maybe find something similar that Sirius makes?
