Flat Screen TVs

Thinking about upgrading to one of those 19inch flat screen tvs with the built in dvr.

Anybody using one and how are they holding up in the truck?

I heard that they use alot of power to start up and can overload an apu when it is on??? And the ones without the dvr dont have this problem..

I bought a 20" Visio off of Craigslist for $175, it doesn't have built in DVD, I use a Playstation 2 for that.

Draws only 45 watts, weighs 16 pounds and is 4" thick. The little plug in inverter runs both easily. I don't know why there would be a start up load, that happens with motors containing heavy windings, but then you're talking about 208 or 220V generally.

I have a 20" flatscreen in my 379. I bought one of those mounting kits, and mounted it directly to the door of one of my cabinets. It's been in here about 2 years, and still works perfectly.

It doesn't have a built in DVD, and for the record, I have gone through 2 dvd players in that time. I'm not a fan of those "all in one" systems, because if one component breaks, you are SOL.

An APU will have no problem running it, however. I can run my TV and playstation 2 off of a 400 watt inverter.

I need to figure out a way to put one of those wall mounts on the side-window of my Volvo (bottom window, of course). It seems like it'd be a perfect place to mount this 22" monitor.

Run two pieces of flat steel vertically, attaching them to the top and bottom of the window frame, then attach the TV bracket to the flat steel.

Hmmmmm - that just might work. I won't even have to drill new holes. Looks like I just have to remove the screws for the curtain snaps.

this is what we did in our volvo 780 (same as you drive) i cut a 1X6 the size if the shelf mounted the tv to it then i cut 10 1x4x4 5 for each side and used 2 quick-clamps to clamp it to the shelf.(1X4 under the shelf for the bar clamp to grip) i can have it out of the truck in 2 min and installing it takes 3 (no holes and don't have to take anything apart) we had it in 3 trucks so far.
