Got a quick question . When your dispatched does your dispatcher actually check to see if you can legally (log book legal that is ) make the trip before you run out of hours or at least where you can take your 34 hour reset .
for example : if i'm dispatched to California from New York and which equates to about 3000+ miles i will need to calculate my time like so Time = Speed / Miles. Since you alway calculate for 50 mph then 60 = 50/3000 so thats about
a 2 1/2 day trip without stopping , but know you must also factor in your DOT break which is 10 hrs for every 11hrs driving so you take 60 because thats how many hours it will take to make the trip as was mentioned earlier and divide that by 11 ; 60/11=5.45 convert that into and integer 5. Then multiply by 10 ; 5 X 10=50 . So then you take both you DOT break=50 and drive time =60 and multiply them 60 X 50=110 and that will give you your total trip time. This is just an expamle and of course the trip will take longer in the real world , but just for a newbies sake i was wondering if dispatch actually does any of this before they send you on your way.
