aftermarket engine brakes

The engine brake on my Mack sucks big time. If I understood the mechanic correctly, the reason it sucks is because the kit that I have goes only to two cylinders. He said that I could buy an aftermarket system to upgrade from what I currently have. Any recommendations for aftermarket engine brakes?

I've heard Pac Brakes are the best aftermarket jake brakes out there.

I would recommend jacobs or pacbrake as they are reputable compression brake manufacturers. These systems generally don't cover progressive damage under their warranty clause, and progressive damage from an engine brake can be quite expensive ; )

He may have said that due to mechanical issues with the engine brake it is currently only working on 2 cylinders.

Both the "Dynatard" (Mack's own proprietary engine brake) and the Jacobs engine brake are designed to brake on all 6 cylinders of a Mack 6 cylinder engine.

The Jake brake on a Mack usually had a "Hi/Lo" switch which would allow 6 cylinder braking in the "Hi" position, and 3 cylinder braking in the "Lo" position.

The Dynatard was 6 cylinder braking whenever it was activated.

Jake Brake is the better of the 2 setups.

Something is wrong then

Mack uses Jacobs brakes and their proprietary systems are Dynatard and Powerleash

The asets use the Powerleash

the dynatard is found on the older engines

Power leash and Jacobs is 3/6 cyliners and The dyntard is all 6

Your mechanic is wrong
