Default Inframe Kit & Cyl Head

Hi guys, haven't posted in a while.
    Happy Holidays to all!

    Anyone use parts from Internetdiesel.com?
I'm thinking about buying a reman head and inframe kit for my c-15 MBN motor 2004
My goal is to stay under $5000 for parts. Any help would be great.

Also, I need my truck transported from Ellenwood, GA to East Moriches, NY
I need to do my inframe. It has double bunk condo sleeper.
I don't know if it will be low enough for a really low lowboy.
Put it on the trailer and flatten the tires??
Any help for transport ideas welcome.
Good friend/good mechanic doing the job. It's what he does for a living.

I would have the engine rebuilt where it is or close to it
if I knew of a good trustworthy shop.
So, I gotta get it to NY, unless one of you guys want to rebuild it.
I can use power tools, and I'll think about doing your dry cleaning if the rates are good.

I know a guy who is about 100 miles from Ellenwood, GA. He has worked on my trucks before. I know that he does rebuild engines, but don't know what he charges. He has been fair on work that he has done for me. There is also a wrecker company close to him that I have used in the past. They were also fair. If you are interested in either of them let me know and I will see if I can find their phone number. The wrecker service may be open over the weekend, but this guy usually only works Monday through Friday, as I recall.

One option you might have is if you know someone who has a 5th wheel wrecker. They might charge less than a regular wrecker. I assume that you only need the tractor towed? There is also another shop in Chattanooga that might be able to rebuild your engine. I think they would charge more than this guy, but the do pretty good work. Chattanooga is about 20 or 30 miles from the other guy's shop.

I'll take the contact info for both. That would be a big help. My goal is to get the truck up and running again for the new year. It would be nice to have it done down close to where it sits.
It is hard to find a good mechanic that does what he says he's going to do.
Only need the tractor towed. I sold my trailer.
    Thank you Gman.

I recall something about a place in Indiana that does rebuilds also. In and out in 2 days.
    3 years is good.
If I move it that far, I will bring it home so I can be involved in the rebuild. I need a head,(crack) and while it's open it will be inframed.
    Thanks Firebird

Gman, have you heard of J&K truck repair in Crossville, TN ? Them seem like a decent shop.

706-673-2324 is the repair shop. I believe they guy's name is Vernon. The wrecker service that I used before is called Carter Towing? I believe. It is not far from his shop so he could probably tell you the name and/or number. He may also have someone else who can tow it for you for a fair rate. Carter towed one of my trucks from Monteagle, TN to Ringgold, GA for $275 once. That is about 50 miles. I would expect that their rates are higher these days, but I had one wrecker that wanted about $500 and another for $800. Whomever you decide to use, make sure you get the rate before hiring them. Some will really put the shaft to you. Let me know if you need any more names in the area. There is also a shop in Chattanooga called Southeastern Diesel. I don't remember if they do rebuilds, but they do most anything else with diesel engines. They are cheaper than one of the dealers, but more than Vernon.

Since you mentioned Crossville, TN, there is a shop just about 10 miles or so north that has done work on one of my trucks a couple of times. I don't know if he does complete rebuilds, but he has done other work for me. He has been in business for a long time, so that says something about him. From where your truck is the tow bill will probably be about double, but is is another option. HARGIS TRUCKING & REPAIR(931) 452-49666861 S York Hwy, Clarkrange, TN

Southeast Diesel is one of the best, they are also VERY busy, so dont expect to get it done quickly, but it will be done right

Truck is done. I had inframe done along with head & turbo. I am now waiting for driver to get up and running. Should get out on the road this week.
I'm up to about $11000.00. So far truck sounds good. Mandatory oil changes for driver, he has to send me paperwork. Lash adjustment after rebuild will be done at about 5000 miles maybe a little less. Keeping my fingers crossed all will be ok.

Fingers crossed were not good enough. Needless to say, truck is in Birmingham,AL. Kenworth Dealer getting the gold rebuild treatment from cat. Head being sent out and checked/and or repairs needed. Stay away from Complete Trcuk repair in Ellenwood, GA. Found out he never changed pistins, or sleeves #1,#2,#3,#4,#6, pistons gaulded. Not sure about the rods and mains till tomorrow. Head was used, not reman. Supposed to be reman. Should get all money back, I will find out soon.
Driver was on his first load when it blew up. He should be back on road Friday.
Money so far spent will be $21,500. Should get back about $9,000.
Tornado in Birmingham did not blow truck away. I don't know if that is good or bad, I'll let you know in a year.
My prayers to all the people who were hurt and lost in the recent tragedy.

So sorry to hear that, sidman. So the shop in Ellenwood has agreed to a refund?

    No, they have not.
I've never done it before, but the charge is being disputed. I have proof of foul play and parts not changed from current dealership.

Fresh rebuilt certified Cat is done. Out of shop on the road. So far so good, Mpg's are good before break-in period, almost 6 with 39,000 load.
I'm happy with Kenworth of Birmingham. Good job, communication, 4 days, happy with price. $10,400. Gold Cat rebuild with head sent out taken apart checked & cleaned. They were helpful on the phone and pleasant to deal with, I would recommend them.
