    Default Chasing a Short - 2003 Freightliner XL Classic - Wire 28d

    Greetings,

Have a short in whatever circuit is served by Wire 28d, which goes into the third circuit breaker from the bottom in the breaker panel.

    1) Do you know where I can find a wiring diagram?

    or

    2) can you tell me where wire 28d goes?

    THANK YOU !!

Give vin# to freightliner and they'll give you the correct wireing diagram.

I've heard that freightliners(especially those built in the last 10 years) are the worst for wires being run through bad spots and over sharp edges.

I have chased alot of short circuits but usually they turn out to be a bad relay.

28D goes from breaker to driving light relay.

Really? I don't have any problem with Firefox or Chromium. Works just fine.

I had a Freightliner 2000 Classic XL, and the wiring was a RAT'S NEST. At least, back in the '90s, Kenworth and Pete were lacing their cables up and you could find what you were looking for. It looks like Freightliner simply pulls in the wires, one at a time, and leaves them where they end up. They can shake and vibrate while you're driving and rub through or even break off, then try to find the problem and fix it. Mine looked nice, pulled well, and got reasonable fuel economy, but the wiring is enough to turn a body off towards Freightliner. They're inviting problems with a lack of quality, as far as I'm concerned. And, using the wiring as an example, it doesn't speak well for the rest of Freightliner's quality.
