Default Peterbilt 387 stereo and antenna splitters...

After about 6 months of driving this 387, I got sick of the cheesy Shenzen stereo that Werner puts in their trucks (and it even has their logo on 'em), I pulled it out and put in one of my Kenwood decks. After one week, I made the mistake of keying the CB to talk to someone. The stereo started popping and crackling at full volume over the speakers. It didn't matter whether it was on FM, AM, CD, iPod, or otherwise. If it was on, it would get that noise every time I keyed up. The factory stereo never had that problem at all. Is there something I'm gloriously missing here, or is the reality that a cheap, Chinese piece of junk outperforms what I thought was a good head unit?
