    Default How much boost?

My 97 Volvo has a Cat 3406E. The only part of the engine tag that is readable says 410 HP max. How much boost shound this engine make? As much as I have seen is 22psi on the little black box that sits on the dash of this truck.

A 3406e will go to 550 hp, great engine... From my experience normaly set at 475hp.

Factory boost gauge should show 27psi min @ 475hp.

Yea, something like that. The biggest i ever did see on my old 3406E was 30psi. My Acert tho, easily going to 40-45 psi. Never pushed it all the way....

I think 22 psi sounds right on for stock pressure at 410hp with an updated actuator.

There is no actuator in a 3406e, why don't you just stick to being funny

    Okay Colt... ya bitche.

boost pressure sensor... is that better?

My first tractor was a '97 Volvo with a 3406e with a 9 spd Fuller Roadranger, and I'm sure it was set at 375-410 hp. 22 psi is good pressure.

If you can spare a couple of hundred bucks, take your truck to a CAT dealer that has a Dyno (only bigger dealers have it) and let them put the truck on the rollers. They'll tell you exactly what's going on with your engine in terms of fuel pressure, boost, horse power, fuel/air mixture, exhaust restriction and a million of other useful things. They can also tune the engine for better performance and/or fuel mileage but tuning costs 2 times more than just checking/measuring. I'm doing a dyno tune on my CAT C15 for the third time right now and even though it's expensive the results are always awesome.
