    Default Air Dryer Blues Update

This morning, I drove down to the Peterbilt in Sikeston, MO and picked up a new Bendix AD-IS air dryer for $360. They even threw in a full sized jar of Permatex pipe dope for free. We got home and I got the old one off and new one on in about an hour. Thank God it didn’t take any longer ‘cause its snowing and c-c-c-c-c-cold here today.

A side note for anyone interested: Permatex brand pipe dope is by far the best I have ever used. It has a gooey, sticky consistency (kinda like thick cake batter but with the sticky property of honey)that makes it great to work with and is far better than any other brand I’ve used in the past.

At any rate, everything came off easily and everything installed like a charm. Started up the truck, she built pressure right away and no excessive air being dumped from the dryer purge valve. As an added bonus, there’s no core charge on the dryer, so I can keep the old one, rebuild it and be ready for the next time (hopefully far in the future) this happens.
