    Default "Idle Time"

What do you think is an acceptable idle time % on a used truck?

I am looking for opinions, I have a truck in mind for trade.

I think the lifetime idle time is too much at 52%

    What do you think?

I can use power tools, and I'll think about doing your dry cleaning if the rates are good.

Sounds like to me that this truck you are looking into sat about half as much as it ran.

That sounds like a lot of idling to me.

Yes, the truck had 17,000 hrs & it had about 8600 hrs idle time. More then half. It will come with the 2 year/200,000 mile warranty.

I am trying to decide if it realy matters that much. It's an 04, C-15 with a little less than 500,000 miles on it. Same as what my truck has. But mine is a day cab and I need a truck with a sleeper.

This dealer is giving me terms that are hard to refuse. He has a few buyers in mind already for my truck and is giving me full value plus some on my truck.

My truck always had high idle time because I had to idle to run the hydraulic pump. I dont remember the exact number it was high.
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.

From what I've read, idling today is a lot less of an issue than it was before. The engines today are designed to adjust to the changes that idling causes.
