    Thumbs up Shop Recommend-ation!

For those O/O's out there that pay their own repair bills...I highly recommend the Freightliner dealership in Troy IL. Truck Centers INC!

I called PrairieArchway International looking to get a couple broken exhaust manifold bolts replaced, as well as the kingpins, on my 2001 ITH 9400i series. ITH told me Thursday afternoon was the soonest they could get started....and suggested I try Trucks INC out here in Troy.

Trucks INC got my truck into the shop by 4:30 yesterday afternoon, and had it ready for pickup by 8AM today! That is outstanding!!! Gave me a 40% discount on parts because of being a O/O paying cash, a 20% discount on labor.

Called me at 11 lst night when they had the Turbo off, to let me know they found a developing problem there, and suggested what they could do to correct the problem (seals).

All in all, a very good experience, given that I called them at 2PM yesterday. The bill was even less than anticipated. $2,169 versus the $2,890 they guess-timated yesterday afternoon, even with the turbo repair.

It is unusual for a bill from a dealer to be less than the estimate. I can't recall the last time I was given a bill for less than the estimate. It seems that it is usually higher than the estimate. Good for you, Stan. I need to remember the name of that dealer should I be in the area and need some repairs.

Glad to know there is a dealer out there who is willing to make a buck without totally screwing you. We've had terrible experiences at both Freightliner and Volvo dealers in general- but there are a few out there who have business ethics.

You're right GMAN, to get a bill that's less than the estimate is almost unheard of (I'm sure someone has heard of it, but I haven't until now!). I know that I've been charged repair time when the mechanic has been working on someone else's truck instead!

Glad you found an honest shop and thanks for letting us know!

The petro in Oak Grove Ms is also pretty good for minor stuff. I went in there with a fuel leak I couldnt find, the mechanic found a pinhole in the fuel line under the truck, he made a new line and had me going in 30 minutes, total bill. $100.00
