    Default Trip Computer

Are there any OEM/aftermarket Trip Computers available that will display MPG, miles, hours, ect for a Detroit in a FL Columbia? I don't really know where to even look. Since my truck didn't come with one, the guys at Freightliner are clueless because all they seem to be able to do is work off VIN#'s

    Thanks.

Not sure how true it is but I read on here that the trip computers are not accurate when it comes to the calculating of fuel mileage.

Allan5oh: "Pen and paper only. Dash readouts will always be wrong, but they will be consistently wrong. You cannot compare two trucks via dash readout, but you can compare the same truck one run to the next. You can tell if one run you got better fuel mileage, but that's about it." Yeah I read that too. It's hard getting an exact number for MPG though. It seems from Truck Stop to Truck Stop their pumps shut off at different times either giving me more or less fuel than the previous which throws off my calculations...

Ah I see, nothing will be as accurate as pen and paper unless the driver made an error using the pen and paper method.

I'm sure the little I'm off isn't enough to stress about, I'm just vary particular about things.

As long as you got an idea of what kind of mpg your getting I wouldn't make a big deal about it.
