    Default Fan Clutch

i checked my fluids today and found that air was leaking from the fan clutch, at the groove where the fan would spin. sprayed some soapy water and bubble was coming out.

anybody ever changed a fan clutch on a cummins isx 500. how much is it for the assembly and how long and difficult is it.

i had a friend changed his on his cat motor, was a pain in the *****.

any help would greatly be appreciated.

Cummins or Cat its about the same job, got to work from both sides of the truck to get it out, its a heavy little SOB too.

I rebuilt mine, the kit was around $200 bucks, it cured the air leak problem.

A new or reman one is around $600 I think, either way it has to come off the truck.

i just took mine off (1 hour). its easiser because my isx motor isn't so close to the radiator as with my 3406e cat.

the belts on the isx is so much easier to work with, it's got a belt tensioner unlike the cat where you have to loosen and tighten.
    a lot of time consuming.

got a reman. for $550, the full rebuilt kit was around $400 so might as well get the reman. and just pop it right in.

    thanks for the info anyways
