    Default Cruise control problems

The CC worked perfectly for my first 30,000 miles. I had a new tranny put in, and my CC problems began. My speedo is now 2mph off. The CC never worked right again, and quit working all together 50 miles down the road from the trans shop.
I would have gone back, but this shop was so bad,...I decided to try and fix it myself.
I have put in a new sending unit, and the CC worked perfectly for 1,300 miles. Then it started acting up again:
1.Shutting off while under a load pulling a small hill.
Now it's back to shutting off 10 seconds after I turn it on, but only while I'm under a load, when I'm empty it shuts off with no pattern even on flat roads, or it works for hours at a time with no problems.

I have an intl also w/ det ser 60. I had cruise go out on me a few years back. I fixed myself but cannot remember specifically what I replaced. I do know that is was one of 2 eletrical sensors behind the control panel just behind the 2 cc levers. though they were not on the back of the panel.a lil farther away. I took one or both sensors off & went to the intl dealer & asked if these can go bad. they said yes. so i replaced. not too much $$ either at that time. wish I could be of more help. good luck.

    Heavy,
What do they look like and are they directly behind the switch panel? also do the wires from the set/resume and on/off switches go right to them, or through them?
I noticed today that it has not pattern at all, and it worked for hours today and then stopped again.

    Thanks for the reply

    Wiring problem.

Chafed insulation causing intermittent grounding out of the signal from the VSS, or intermittent loss of continuity at one of the connections in the system.
If you can't shift it smoothly, you shouldn't be driving it.
