I would every PM service so 10-15k miles.
Andrew
I do mine every 10,000 along with my oil. Might be overkill but I run in alot of dusty environments. I also keep a spare set on the truck just in case they get dirty earlier as shown on the fuel filter restriction gauge on the dash. Had some showing 15lbs of restriction after 5k miles, changed em on the fly and all was better.
Trying to stretch their life beyond 10k for me has shown a loss of MPG.

every service, and once in between services in the winter especially. No one can figure out why, but I get a loss of power, smoke, sputtering and it all goes away with the quick fuel filter change.
BTW all 5 trucks my company has are that way and we service them every 12k -15k.
For Anthony, who was taken from our lives much too young. I love you honey, and I will always miss you.

We replace when I report loss of power/lugging. I've argued for more frequent but got nowhere.
I always change my fuel filters when I do a pm. Sabine, if you are having problems with sputtering and loss of power, you may be getting water in your fuel. You may want to suggest to your company that they get something to get rid of the water. If it continues it could cause you a problem with an injector. I always use CAT filters.
I agree with 10k miles, dirty looking or not. Most people will overlook this, but will religiously check tire pressure, lower speed and stare at that dash computer, etc. The filter is $10, and I make that back up in a couple hours of driving. I do PM's at around 20k.
We run Bio-diesel in our 1999 Freightliners, and have a hard time making 10,000 miles before we change the fuel filters. Winter time it's a lot worse.
We go thru filters like crazy pumping Bio-Diesel out out of the ground, when the temperature is below 40 degrees.

Get a Davco primary fuel processor. you can see the filter thru the cover. When the fuel reaches the top of the filter, change it. No use wasting perfectly good filters when you don't have to. I have used Davco systems on a lot of trucks.... Detroit and Cummins engines with great results. It has a fuel heater element for cold weather as well. I usually use a 15% biodiesel blend. I had to change the filter a couple of times rather soon until the Biodiesel cleaned out the tanks and lines. Now filters are lasting 40K miles.
Just an FYI.
