Could you post your find on the software, as I have a c-15 Cat engine.

    Thanks.

caterpillar used to make available a software package called "pocket tec" for your palm pilot that would allow you to plug into the ecm and view engine info and parameters. my dad has two dump trucks with c12s and we were trying to find a way to check on the avg. fuel mileage, how many miles are being driven a day, how much time is being spent at what rpms, how many hard braking episodes, etc.

cat also has a package called "cat messenger" that allows you to view all these stats "real time" via a in-dash display, but it's very pricey. around 450$ at the local kw dealer, and i think i saw one go around three somethin on ebay.

anyway, if you have a palm pilot (33$ plus shp. ebay) you can download the software from the caterpillar website for free now (its under the electronics heading, and then the "pocket tec" heading), plug in and view you engine info at the end of the day, week, whatever. you also have to order the cable that goes from the palm pilot into the ecm, but they are available at the cat house and the part no.'s are listed online.

    hope this was helpful.
