Default Should I replace 1 injector or all injectors

This morning on my way to Tucker, Ga, I had an injector go bad. At least I'm pretty sure this is the problem. I had a "code 71" come up on the check engine light which "is injector time response too long" and of course the terrible skipping. So I've taken the truck to the Detroit Diesel shop located in Greer, SC. I talked to Justin tonight and he quoted me $2100.00 for all 6 injectors and that included labor. He was unsure of the cost of replacing just one. I'm sure they will push for the "package sale". Does anyone here have an opinion on replacing just 1 or should I do all? My engine has 967,000 miles but I overhauled (out of frame) it at 743,000. I did not replace injectors then, and they seemed to look really good. If you have a minute could you post a reply or a vote on my poll. Thank you.

I just talked to Clay in the Service Dept. at Detoit Diesel. He quoted 1 injector at 850.00 + tax and the six pack at 2100.00 +tax. That included labor. He highly recommended replacing all 6. It makes sense $$ wise. As I may go down the road tomorrow and another one goes out. I'd lose another day or 2 of work plus another 850.00.

Just make sure it's not an electrical problem first.

    I'd do all 6.

i think you've just answered your own question.... if the 6-pack were 850 x 6 ($$5000$$) i could see logic in installing 1. but, in your case, they're giving you 6 injectors for the price of 2 1/2.... no brainer if you can pull it off, especially since you didn't do the super kit during the overhaul
