Default 3rd oil sample came in, looks VERY good!

    New sample:

    Old samples:

I do not know why they didn't combine all 3 together.

copper went from 21 to 28 ppm from 11k to 45k, that's excellent. Hopefully this oil change it will all be flushed out of the system. I'm going to cut apart the filters and see what's inside.

    A couple other things:

TBN is down to 8.6, the first sample was 9.6, this shows the new CJ-4 oil(CI-4 was used in the first sample only) has a lower TBN, which seems to be common knowledge.

Soot went up from the first sample, .1 to .3, due to summer vs. winter conditions.

I'm curious why my tin went from 2.7 to 0 when I didn't change the oil between 2nd and 3rd sample. Lead, silver, and aluminum also went down. Either this shows that the sampling is erroneous, or the extra filtration REALLY works. But I had the kleenoil filter on after the 1st sample.

How often do you do this? I plan on getting my Pm's at the TA, do they send the stuff for analysis for a fee if I want?

at the end of every oil change, at least.

Use a good "send away" lab, don't use those counter top instant result units.

    Ask t/a who they use.
