OK, first off, why do/did some trucks have that flap on top of the exhaust pipe?
Those are used to keep water out of the exhaust. If your truck sits for some time without being run the exhaust will fill with water and rust certian parts of the engine. I think most people use them to look and sound cool now.![]()

Called a rain cap. Keeps rain out. Rain caps are mostly used on farm tractors, and farm trucks that arent always inside.
