Default Donaldson endurance PLUS oil filters

Overkill? What do you guys think?

    http://www.donaldson.com/en/engine/e...ore/index.html

    pricing for the "non-plus"

    https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/Se...CategoryID=246

My application would be the ELF7739, $33 US each. I can get all 3 luberfiner filters for my volvo engine for $45 Cdn. That ELF7739 isn't even the "plus" but the regular endurance.

I've noticed most of the filter mfg's are coming out with premium filters.
I will probable use a premium air filter next time around. In oil and fuel filters I'll use Cat filters, which I consider a better filter to start with.

    Would I use these... Probably.

Do I think they would make my engine last longer ? Probably not....
I'll wing it here...but IMO engine failure, Or the reason that you end up doing an inframe, will not be caused by dirty oil in most cases.

certain manufacturers lately have been known to deny warranty claims because of too much wear from the oil. The owner allows the soot to build up, of course this is only on EGR engines. Mine isn't EGR.

I think it's still a good idea, but I really don't need the additive pack, that's more for EGR engines that wear down the TBN quickly. Mine dropped a point in 52,000 km's. I love the new ULSD fuel!

I found a cross-reference and I didn't know luberfiner makes a premium filter, LFP3191LX, I use the non-lx regular version. Maybe I'll just switch to that, since I get deals on luberfiners.
