    Default N14 injector lifespan/ replacement

My 2001 Volvo 770 N14 with 100,057,000 miles had a inframe done last year. The heads had been replaced due to cracked injector cups as part of a Cummins recall at about 500,000K. 2 injectors were replaced at 750k.
I just finished a 4000 mile trip (near gross flatbed) Chicago to El Paso to Albuquerque to Upper Mi. and averaged 6.7 mpg which tells me that things are working very well.
What is the lifespan a cylinder head and what is the failure mode.
What is the lifespan of a injector and what is its failure mode.
Can I just switch a injector with a new one and drive away?
And just had a friends trk have a injector tip fail and cause damage worth $10k which prompted this question

I talked to Volvo and priced rebuilt Cummins injectors @$473.00 each with a $494.00 core charge. I also called a independent rebuilder that said to buy the Cummins injector because he could not get replacement solenoid coils for the injectors and cheaper rebuilds would reuse the coils.. In his opinion shorted injector solenoids are the major cause of ECM failures. Does anyone have any experience with a computer meltdown?

n14 cylinder head; has problems with injector tubes cracking (wish i could tell when that is going to fail), some cyl head castings do crack but not common, they also have some head gasket issues

fuel quality and on-vehicle filtration is the biggest factor in fuel injector life

a cracked/broken injector tip is usually caused by water in the fuel

you can just switch the injector with a new one, adjust the injector plunger travel, and then drive away.

be aware that switching an injector is not a "basic maintenance" kind of task

    n14 is a solid engine
