I know this a bad thing but how bad is it when gas and oil mix in the engine?I think we cracked an injector but who knows till it gets looked at. Anyone had a similar situation?

You are right I apologize I got many things on my mind. Yes it is a diesel, 01 freightliner. All info I have is that a cracked injector I guess has allowed the fuel and oil to mix. Also that the engine light came up on the dash, I know if continued to be driven the engine would be wasted.

freightliner doesn't build engines. is this a 3126 cat or a series 60?

yes, fuel thins out the oil and can cause low oil pressure and bearing damage.

the real issue when it comes to the safety of the engine is.... how is the fuel getting in the oil? if it's a cracked injector tip, then it is washing down that cylinder and will rapidly destroy it
