If you were supposed to use transmission fluid to clean your injectors, then the companies that produce it would market it as such.Originally Posted by heavyhaulerss
There are those here who swear by it. I wouldn't do it, though. It isn't designed to be run through injectors.
And don't forget your starter fluid in case you get a flat tire-Be Veeeery careful though-Some people tend to over do it and then you just defeat the purpose :P
It'll get you down the road in a Pinch
What are u supposed to do with it?Originally Posted by yoopr
It's an old school trick-If you get a Flat(Not a blowout) you spray the Starting fluid around the bead and throw a match at it-It'll give you some inflation of the tire and get you to where you can can your tired fixed.
Main thing wrong with the trans fluid is some of it is RED, this WILL make it look like you are running "dyed" fuel........big NO NO!!!
Not worth the trouble........Power Service or Howes.
Yeah, but if it dont work right?........... :?Originally Posted by yoopr

I've seen those tire guys who are up in the years with red burned up faces. :P
It works but you gotta be careful doing it-Only did it if I had to-Don't over do it with the starter fluid and if you're pulling a Tanker I wouldn't advise it :P
A quart of trans fluid to the tank will not change the color of the fuel, they use a greater concentration of dyes in off road fuels. You don't ever need to worry about this unless you are mixing 1 gallon of fuel with 1 quart of trans fluid....lolOriginally Posted by Maniac

I have used transmission fluid for years. Just because it doesn't cost an arm and leg, doesn't mean that it doesn't work well. If you are concerned about it then there are a number of products on the market you can buy for many times the cost of transmission fluid. I have never had a problem with an engine or injector that I have put in transmission fluid. We didn't always have some of these fancy expensive products on the market.
That also doesn't mean it actually cleans the injectors. I've seen no proof, other than anecdotal evidence, that using transmission fluid cleans ANYTHING in the fuel system.Originally Posted by GMAN
Starting fluid is used to seat the bead, it is not fix a flatIt'll give you some inflation of the tire and get you to where you can can your tired fixed. It is used in a bind when inflating a tire that is not seated on the rim. Kid's

You got that right Rev. I remember once a friend of mine sprayed it in the tire, and sprayed a long line of it away from the tire. When he dropped the match, that tire must have jumped 4 feet in the air.
I used to work for a guy who would seat tires like that. That is, until the one time he lit the thing, and it didn't go out, and he was frantically looking for some water to put the thing out with. Oddly enough, the next week, there was a brand spankin new tire seater sitting in the shop.Originally Posted by Part Time Dweller

That's only because you haven't installed those magnetic collars on your fuel lines that give you an extra 3 mpg by atomically aligning the magnetic resonance of the fuel particles.Originally Posted by Rev.Vassago
Dummy.
For $300, those things pay for themselves in 300 years. They're a great bargain.
lol-Always cracked me up when these miracle product salesmen were at truck stops selling their stuffOriginally Posted by silvan
Oops. My bad. I was using the big green horse pills that you drop into the fuel tanks, that are supposed to change the chemical composition of the fuel.Originally Posted by silvan
