between those two chooses CAT
What year?
It's always a CAT for me, but i've been advised, by CAT dealer folks, not to buy 2007 CAT, and wait at least a year, too many complications...![]()

What's up with the 2007?
My dispatcher decided to start driving again, so he is taking an o7 pete with a new engine... we do not know what engines are coming... some I.S.X. SOME CAT. I'm glad to take a bridge c 15 till we sort things out...
I don't think anyone knows, anyone tell us? every one I know wants a 06 engine

There is to many emission "improvments" on it, and too many things, could go wrong...not quiet tested yet!
that always seems to happen when they raise emission standards

They're all going to be more complicated, not just CAT.Originally Posted by solo379

Same as ALL of the '07 engines... DPFs, new technology. The new 07 CATs have a spark plug, ignition coil, and fuel injector in the exhaust system. The DPF is an oxidation catalyst as well as a particulate trap. An electronic exhaust system with inlet and outlet pressure and temperature sensors to trigger catalyst regeneration.Originally Posted by yoopr
Oh, and a closed crankcase, too... no more draft tubes.

'07 (DPF) enignes are NOT available until 01/07... because truck manufacturers are not forced to install them until then.Originally Posted by COLT

WOW  I wish I could talk our shop Foreman into swapping out engines, I'll take a regular C15 please, just think of the better auction price... My 01 Pete got sold at auction yesterday, in Grande Prarie.![]()
just to throw in a different rub here.....its pre-03 for me. I have still not come to terms with EGR let alone all the newer crap! Just keep rebuiling as long as you can!!!
Tom
CATs didn't have an EGR, till 2007, and frankly, i'm quiet happy, with my Acert...so far(246,000)Originally Posted by traveler15301

Just to clarify... DDC and Cummins got EGR in the fall of '02 (octoberish).Originally Posted by traveler15301

CAT isn't using EGR at all... they will be using CGI (clean gas induction) in '07.Originally Posted by solo379
The difference is where the gases are routed from. The "dirty" gases from the EGR engines are the cause of most of the EGR valve failures.

Cat.
Cat is crap !
Cummins ISX is now a proven engine and totally compliant !
The ISX `07 has a better built EGR valve, located farther down stream and made by a different manufacture. The biggest change is a serviceable muffler ( that means it can be cleaned ... not replaced ).
The `07 Cummins ISX is a highly superior engine ... and moving up from a very good foundation !
CAT SUCKS (then they blow up).
