I've always wondered, what's the highest # of miles you've seen on a tractor-trailer? I've heard it's not uncommon to get around 400'000 on the odometer. Have there ever been any to reach one million miles? What happens if you reach it? Does the odometer start back over to 000'000? :?:

I haven't seen it, but Mad Dog and Bush Bunny claim to have put some over 7.8 million miles on their truck that they ran for 20 years.

A friend of mine has a truck with over 2 million miles that he has put on it, with over one million when he bought it. Of course I don't know of any part on that truck that has not been replaced/overhauled except for the frame.

Have there ever been any to reach one million miles?
Many trucks reach one million miles if properly maintained.

What happens if you reach it?
    The self destruct mechanism activates.

Does the odometer start back over to 000'000?
Most will roll over back to zero, unless they get stuck halfway.. Usually you put a scratch next to it on the dash so you remember.

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
    Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.2-and 1.3 on my w900l. Solid as a rock...I put fuel in it, change the oil and roll. I've had little problems here and there, but nothing too major yet. <crossing fingers>BTW-It's got a 3406E model Cat.

Friend of mine is restoring an old Pete Cabover... The old "FOOTBALL HELMET". It's supposed to have 4.3 million on it. Cummins engine, but don't know what model. Might be a "Big Cam 3".
