Refresher courses

Does anyone have some insight into which companies hiring out of California - San Diego to be specific - hire truck drivers after they go through a refresher course (he would be paying for the course)? My husband has not driven for over a year since losing a job and was on medical disability for almost that same time. He has over 24 months experience in total, but not enough recent. He is interested in driving regionally with a decent company. He has one company who will hire him and put him through the refresher course, but they are far from the greatest.

Thanks for any help.

The only ones who can answer the questions are the companies that hire drivers.. normally A LOT of drivers. Start with the large companies and call their recruiters with all of your questions. You should ask the questions and even apply to the companies before talking to any school or walking in the door of a school or worst case taking the refresher course without a job offer. If you take the refresher course and it does not meet most companies requirements, you've just wasted whatever the cost of the course was and of course the time that it took to take the course. What do the company that you have contacted say? Ask the people who hire.. do NOT ask people who are trying to sell you something.
