Local US Postal service drivers...

Anyone know anything about the guys driving the Mack post service trucks around town? The Class A drivers and not the mailman... I'm throwing around the idea's of actually staying local for awhile...

USPS Drivers

Did you try going to the USPS website and check the "careers', "jobs", or "employment" section? Try here: http://www.usps.com/employment/maildeliveryjobs.htm BOL

You might want to see how close you are to a bulk mail center. A few years back the BMC in Atlanta was needing drivers so bad, they had wanted signs hanging in our post office and we were 50 miles from the center. The pay can't be to bad, it's a government job, and from what I remember about the signs, I think it was in the low $20/hr range, and that was probably 5 years ago. These were for USPS employees, not contractors, driving the red white and blue macks like you were referring to. I wish I would have checked it out a little more, hind sight is always 20/20

Getting tired of the chip truck?

The big hub for the post office in your neck of the woods, off industrial blvd in W Sacramento. I actually go to tour it for a field trip when I was in Elementary school. As you crawl in frequent traffic jam at the Hwy50/I80 merge just before the Yolo Causeway you can see it to your south.

Here in Reno I sometimes see the FLDs in Postal livery being used in the LTL operation.

Check with your local post office and ask about talking to the truck driver and what times they arrive there. The truck that drops at my office is a small truck that delivers to about 5 small post offices and I believe he said that the owner of his truck owns like 5 trucks. They are contractors for the post office, they are not considered postal employees but still go through the background checks and have i.d badges.
