Have offers from both companies and trying to get some back ground on both from ex company drivers.
Out of my class two out of five finished , and made it through with there C.D.L training.. We had, Werner come in scouting for new hires. I, and my class was impressed with how they take care of there employees. It was nice to hear too there catching up with the paperless logs, and getting on the the high tech side of thing's which makes it safer for us truckers. I don't no anything about USA Truck, but Werner is a good company to stick with my opinion.
Hardware,
Thanks for your insight.

Where are you, and what do you plan on doing (OTR, regional, dedicated, reefer, flatbed, etc.)?
I've been told by some USA drivers that their new trucks have automatics, but Werner has mostly 9-speed manuals, but the new trucks have 10-speed manuals. Werner's also not putting APU's on new trucks, save for the million milers. All the new USA trucks I've seen have Tri-Pacs.
As for pay, I've heard that USA starts out at $.25/mile, versus Werner at $.26/mile for OTR. For regional and dedicated, it's a whole different ballgame.
I've been a company driver for Werner on the Dollar General account out of South Boston, VA for the past 3 years and it has its ups and downs, but it's a pretty good gig.
I hope this helps out some.

Well, if these are your only two choices, then you might consider that USA has the distinction of not only attaining alert status in not only one, but three categories under the new CSA program. That's right, USA is the leader in alert status categories, over every other major carrier. Go ahead, look it up.
It ought to be real fun approaching that open scale house in the near future if driving a USA truck!

A superior driver uses superior judgement to avoid situations which require superior skill.
Hey how do we go about looking up a company's CSA record?
Chrome might not get you home but it might get ya laid (over polishing in a parking lot). lol
funny, i talked to a usa driver yesterday as i was getting loaded. he said he's suposed to see home every weekend.. he hasnt seen home in over a month. he said the dispatchers were very flaky too.
I've been through thier orentation and got let go the last day even though I was preaproved. I chalked it up as a loss, only real issue I had is they never gaave me a reason as to why they let me go. My opinion is USA does not have it together at all. Just based on what little experience I have with them.

I was OTR with Werner for 9 yrs. Over all it is a decent company to work for. They have their issues like every other carrier. If you are just starting out, don't expect to make a lot of money. It takes a year or so to get the hang of it and to find your groove! I was a driver trainer for them for several years and I have to say I do not like their training program. Trucking is not meant for everyone. If you go into it with an open mind and a good attitude, you will be fine. Just keep in mind that there will be tough times and that how you handle them and move through it is what determines how good of a driver you will be. Keep at it. Stick to it and you will be fine.
