The last time I spoke with an NFI driver....was during the "Great Recession". I see that NFI has been buying new equipment recently, so they must be back on solid footing financially. They almost followed Jervic down the tube. They did have a decent pay scale...the last time I checked....but that was in 2006.

I occasionally deliver a load of kingsford from Springfield to the NFI warehouse in Tracy and lately I've noticed way more trailers in their yard than before. The one thing that draws my curiosity is there's has never been a NFI truck there getting loaded. I don't see them much on I-5 either.

I wonder if they are on the way to closing their doors.

Well if they do, I hope nobody throws a match in that warehouse! The fire dept. would be waiting for weeks for the coals to cool down. Imagine 10 pallets high, 100 deep and a couple hundred long of just charcoal.

You have to remember, NFI is a New Jersey based company, and they may have pared their truck operations back to just east of the Rockies. There is a better profit margin on warehousing for them on the I-5 corridor than there is on the truck operations. They could pull trucks back to just running east of the rockies and have a better operating margin, while still running warehouses nationwide.
