When they check your pulse, they're also checking your blood oxygen saturation at the same time. Back home in Portland, my stats are just fine. But now I'm coming down with a cold. . . .

When they put that little thing on your finger is when they check your blood oxygen level.. It will take your pulse, blood oxygen level, and carbon dioxide levels..

I've never had a oximeter used on me in a DOT physical. Strange. But it's been almost a year since my last one.

I got my physical last year and don't remember seeing anything on the sheet that even asked for that to be checked.

Wow I am going to CR England Dallas on 11/29 I am so nervous hearing about the horror stories with the company. I do have a few Questions

    1. I have had my License since 2007, I am only 21 and have only gotten two tickets, driving on expired registration not my car, and speed 50 in a 35, will any of that disqualify me?
    2. I am 6'1'' 300lbs with a resting hear rate of 72 is that good?
    3. If I don't lease a truck what do I do then?
    4. Is it worth it I have applied to over 100 different companies in charlotte and this is the only compnay that has called me so should I take that leap of faith, all my life I wanted to be a truck driver and I know you have to pay dues to be one is CR england a great place to start?
    5. I am also going to be coming with $200 is that going to be enough until my first paycheck?

Please help and don't be to harsh.

Wow. That's a lot of ground to cover.

First off, "... have only gotten two tickets," is two too many and my guess is that's the main reason you haven't had more call backs. I'm assuming you told them? If you didn't, and CR England gave you the orientation date without knowing about them, then you probalby want to bring more than that $200 so you can get back home when they send you packing. If, on the other hand, that orientation offer is after them knowing about the tickets then you're probably ok there.

The next issue may be your health/DOT physical. 6'1" at 300 lbs is pretty heavy. Are you able to do much physical activity? Some of these DOT physicals are more strenuous than others. Only you can answer that question but be prepared for a real physical where they actually work you out and not just check your pulse. I have no idea if you're healthy or not, I'm not trying to imply that you aren't, but if you can't walk up 10 steps without getting winded, you may have problems.

If you don't lease a truck (AND I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE YOU NOT TO) then you'll be driving one of their trucks as a company driver. That's the only way you want to get started in this business. DO NOT LEASE, especially from CRE. They are notorious for having a very bad lease deal. Please, for your sake, don't get tricked into believing that that's the only way to work at CRE.

If you have truly applied with over 100 companies and CRE is the only one willing to take you on, and if this is REALLY what you want to do, then go for it. They have nice equipment but you definately won't be the highest paid truck driver on the road working for CRE as a company driver but that's the ONLY way you want to start. Believe me. (See a theme going there? :P )

Just report in, do the best you can do, pay attention, and follow directions, and stay away from that lease deal they're going to try to talk you into and you'll be fine.

Keep us posted of your progress, will ya?

    Good luck.

Thanks for answering back. I have a problem not typing the whole info in forums for some reason but do want to thank you for answering

    1. I told the lady that called me about the tickets and she didnt say anything, those are the only tickets that I have and I am normally not a speeder and when I drive my car everything is in working order and the paperwork is good

    2. I am fat but by no way I am unhealthy I walk 3 to 4 miles everyday and workout I can probally pass the physical test that they give me so that not a problem but looking at me people tend to get the wrong reactions

3 I understand the lease thing, I will not do it.

4 When I say I've applied to over 100 different places I mean I've applied to many different types of Places here in Charlotte like customer service and Walmart and no one is biting, I even have a Associates Degree in Civil Engineering and no one is calling me back cause I don't really have work experience and people in this economy are not hiring or want a experienced person they can put straight to work. I'm just hoping I don't get fuxed over by CR England and giving them money I really don't have.

But Again thanks for the answers

At this point, as I see it, you have two options regarding those tickets.

    1. Call that lady back and make sure that they're aware of AND ok with the tickets.

    2. Hope that they are aware and ok with them and just in case they aren't, have contingency plans in place to be able to get back home should they ask you to leave.

Don't take this wrong, I'm certainly not trying to sound gloom & doom here, but I've heard too many stories of people arriving at orientation only to be sent home after the company found something out on the person's record that they either didn't know about, or claim to not know about. I'm only stressing this to help you out, not stress you out. Please take it that way.

You said "I told the lady that called me about the tickets and she didnt say anything". If she didn't ask some questions like: when, where, how fast, how much was the fine, etc., then to me, it's a huge red flag. To simply say nothing is highly unusual.

Maybe some of the other folks on here can weigh in on this. Am I off base here? Lets help this young guy out.

thanks again for answering, I talked with a Julie today on the Phone, she was alot better than the recruiter I talked to yesterday. She said that the only moving violation I have is a Speeding 50 in a 35 and that would not disqaulify me from them. She also said driving on expired registration does not count as a moving violation so thats nothing to worry about, I told her about my health she said I should pass she laughed and said theres been heavier guys who pass the health so I should be okay with that, I am nervous and excited at the same time for the oppruntunity to start learning on becoming a truck driver something I always wanted to do.

But I would still love feedback from real people that have gone thru CR England, the good, the bad, and the ugly

That's good news. I'm glad you clarified the ticket thing with a recruiter. Also, I was only trying to let you know that a lot of times these DOT physicals are different than just going in and getting poked and prodded. Sounds like you'll do fine. When you get there just do the best you can, pay attention to the instructors, ask questions if you don't understand and have some fun.

Oh, one more thing. I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but they're going to try to get you to lease a truck. Don't do it. Yea,, I think I mentioned it.

    Keep us posted, will ya?

Hi Kimmie. Thanks. Yes, she is my baby. That pic was taken shortly after we got her as an 8 week old. She turned 6 this past April fools day. Her name is Kismet, which means Fate, and is a Rat Terrier. Smart and very well behaved.

Welcome to the boards. I saw you did a short intro on another thread but I'll welcome you here. Also, as freebirdrfd suggested, please put your locaton in your user profile. It'll show up in the upper right corner of each post you make. (I think that's a common pet peve he and I have. ;]

Somehow, I don't think this story is going to end well....You have to ask yourself, why with NO freight going on right now, is this company still "hiring" ? Could it be their 150% turnover rate ? To the OP, you also have a "15 over" citation. That is considered a serious violation. I predict that they will suddenly discover this in the pre-hire slaughter fest these bottom feeders engage in. And, that if you do stay, you will suddenly decide that their "fleece" program is wonderful and that you will be the exception and make a ton of money. Not being critical, it's just HOW MANY times do we have to hear this same stuff about this same garbage company ?? Hundreds ? Thousands ? If people would just stop swallowing CRE's line of BS, then the "Mormon Mafia" would go the way it should...out of business. Do the math, your better off financially working at Denny's...You also may find reading some of the articles about this shining example of a "company" on Ripoff Report interesting..I would live under a bridge and ask for change in front of Rite-Aid before I would trust these barf bags...
