You are too new to receive PMs.
If you are willing to do flatbed and have experience please email me your resume and MVR.MVR must be within the last 30 days.I know exactly what the insurance is looking for and before I send you to them I need to see exactly what they will see.I am getting drivers who say one thing but the MVR is different from what they say.
    no felony or misdemeanors.

I guess the harder I am the more I would weed out the ones who don't qualify, although there is almost no one out there without a misdemeanor/felony.
Orange, a guy told me last week he had never heard of CSA2010.Put yourself in the position of a hiring manager where you had to hire drivers. What would you think if the guy told you he had never heard of CSA2010?First thing I would think is ................he is either not intuned with his line of work and how it will affect him or he is more of a local driver.
What about this..................I got fired from my last job because they said I was dirty and my dogs dirtied the truck and caused the smell. What if this dog lover leaves me and I have to put another driver in his place? No matter how I scrub, the stink is still there. If I know a driver is willing to put in some time then I wouldn't mind about the dirt, smell or the chain smoking.
Hey, I think we scared the guy off.

What about this other story.A guy I almost hired last year got pissed off because I was taking too long to hire him.He was thinking I was a much smaller carrier and he could get away with a lot.Around Christmas, he emails me asking to get a run,and I told him about the requirements of the FMCSA(10yr work history,MVR etc...).I told him to fill out the paper work and which did seem tiring. He then asked for money for his sons birthday (I guess jokingly).I then sent him an email, letting him know that I do not give out money for work not done and I do not give out loans.ALL I WAS DOING WITH THIS GUY WAS BUYING TIME.
I was dragging my feet to figure him out and his personality.Mind you I had never met the guy and a week later he sends me an email cursing me out.He said he wishes my wheels comes off on the turn pike etc....
This guy is the typical driver who would go postal and leave an equipment at a truck stop and only for me to contact every state agency for my equipment. Then again LOJACK is the answer.

I am now sitting at a TA in Whitsett, NC.This USA driver is pissed off because he has only gotten 500 miles this week.He was thinking about abondoning the truck. We had a long conversation with him, and I told him about how these big carriers are screwing up Drivers' DAC.I told him that no matter where he went, his DAC or reference would follow him.He agreed to just drop off the truck at the terminal.Even the proper thing to do, will be to give a two week notice.I have had my share of experience in screening, and I wouldn't want to go down a road that will make me regret this decision I am about to take.
There is also a big reason why these guys are running from the bigger CARRIERS.They claim they want freedom from the beauracracy, but rather most are running from their DAC.They think they can get away in driving for the smaller carriers. Not me.......................I even have a background check in place and almost what the bigger carriers do..................I go through the same process.

A guy totalled a trailer the first day on the job because he claimed he had experience. The Carrier didn't have a CDL when he gave him a road test.Anyway, how can a carrier not have either a CDL or experience on the road to give someone else a road test.THE STORY IS LONG BUT LET ME STOP................

I would say that still, right now today, there are more drivers who haven't heard of CSA 2010 than ones that have. Doesn't surprise me that you found one.

I just put a driver in this truck and his first load will be on friday. The guy who I rode tested friday, had no cell phone and I was about to give him a chance even with his 7yr old felony.I immediately told him we cannot go further with the log test, securement and application until he gets a cell.He then calls back later asking for an advance so that he can have enough cash for his cell and money for food on the road.Mind you, this guy lives with his parents and he is 31.I undertand the hardships but not having a cell?.I cannot dispatch somneone with a prepaid phone. He calls back an hr later from his dad's cell phone, saying that he now has a cell.At that time I had gone through the whole motion with another driver.I think I picked the right candidate for the job and this guy is also a mechanic. He is an ex heavy hauler with 18yrs experience and a clean MVR which I forward to my insurance company. The killer is his two dogs that he must bring with him.I agreed, but there was a signed a agreement that He will keep the sleeper clean everytime he got back.I supplied him with a heavy duity vacuum cleaner.

Now, I need to go pick up a flatbed in TN for the Columbia and then off to my insurance and IRP.I plan on running this other truck on the road for about two weeks before putting someone else in it.I can now enjoy being home with the 11 month old twins and the wife while I dispatch.I ALSO HOPE I DON'T "LOOSE MY SHIRT" FOR MAKING THIS DECISION I JUST MADE IN GRROWING THIS BUSINESS.
I am picking up a 3rd truck in Feb.The trucks are still cheap out there if you have cash.
I talked to a friend oif mine who is a company driver for Star Transportation. In his 3 yr experience with Werner,Hornaday,PTL,Super Service and now Star he says it is pretty normal for drivers to ask for an advance after orientation.Well this is new to me and I felt the guy shouldn't have asked a Motor Carrier as small in size as I am for an advance .Very tacky!

Buddy just think about it for a minute.Think hard!!!!!!!!!!!!
You ask me such a basic question which I think you should know.
Put yourself in my shoes. You got two drivers out there. One has 1000 minutes with free nights and weekends. The other driver has TRAC prepaid phone. Both trucks breakdown in arizona.I get on the phone and call a tow truck to both scenes.I am on the phone with both drivers to get their exact location and mile marker etc .At this time, I get the exact location of the driver with the contract phone. This conversation takes 30 minutes in getting the location and describing the problem to the shop. Now, the guy with the prepaid phone tells me he only has 10 minutes left on his phone and then he would have to recharge. The phone dies after 10 minutes and I really wished he had more minutes to describe the problem to the mech in that 3 way call. The point is prepaid phones are usually expensive and they are designed for people who have the poorest credit score that cannot get a contract phone.
    YOU GOT THE POINT?
Anyway my driver has a contract phone and we either talk every night or email. He just left GA friday and arrived in KS this morning.Getting a load from Wichita to Indianapolis and then from there to Tulsa.2650 miles in 5 days!
I am going OTR with the Columbia next week.I just want to see what this truck can do before I put a driver in it.

Calm down there tonto.Seems you have chosen poorly in your drivers.Having a contract phone is no different than a prepaid if you don't pay the bill.As a matter of fact I've been carrying one for nearly a year now.And honestly it's cheaper for me too.I had a contract phone for years.Paid over well over 200 bucks a month to have it.Now i pay about 80 and can talk just as good as i could before. And you know what else, when my minutes get low all i do is punch a few buttons and something magical happens.I have more minutes.Never have i ever had to cut a call short because of it.YOU GET THE POINT??????????

I am still backwards!I guess prepaid phones now are not the same as it was in the past.I made a wise decision and hired the guy with the two dogs.I cannot ask for any better driver than him.Without micro-managing him, he calls me twice a day at the shipper and etc...
I am very happy with this driver and as soon as he delivers his third load, I make a deposit at his bank. How many Carriers would do that?.He told me a few minor things that needed to be corrected on the truck and I spent all day at my mech yesterday to get it fixed. We grossed $9945 in the two weeks he was on the road.Guess what, he got paid over two grand in two weeks. My main task is to put him and his dogs in a bigger truck early next year.
The much bigger task of "driver search" is over for a while, I need to get this other truck out of the shop and hit the road this friday.

Default In the next couple of months i will be looking

Guys, if you live in Ga, and have recent flatbed experience, I will be hiring again in a couple of months. My first driver is doing excellent.
I NEED THAT ONGOING RELATIONSHIP AND I JUST DON'T PUT ANYONE IN MY TRUCKS WITHIN A WEEK.......................due to this, I need to start that relationship now.Don't email me if you don't know how to change an ALTERNATOR.

The question is: How much would you pay me, as a driver, to change your alternator? Or would you expect free labor from me?
The reason I'm a narcissist is cause everyone else is so lame.
