    Default Volpe Express

I have a job interview Friday at 11am with Volpe Express. I know they are teamsters and the starting rate is 18.18/hr with OT after 9 hours a day. The guy on the phone told me my run will start in South Jersey and i will work my way up to North Jersey and when i get empty I'm going to head to JFK airport for a back haul back down to South Jersey.

I asked him about New York City he told me he thinks i would'nt go there but cant guarantee it. They are a smaller LTL outfit with about 80 trucks. Just want to know if anyone knows anything. Thanks.

    UPDATE

The guy Jeff who interviewed me was a real nice guy. Seems like a very good company but i think it is not for me. I have the job if i want it. I have to let him know something by Wednesday. I think I'm going to turn down the offer.

They are working under blue line delivering to all the little caesars pizza places. Pulling a 48ft reefer. All hand un-load 3-5stops. Will have to go into NYC.

This was the real turn off for me. 14hr days Mon. - Thur. and on Friday it is like an 8/hr day. The reason i like to drive local is to be home every night. If i want to work 14hr days i should just go OTR. I wouldn't mine a 10-11hr day everyday and maybe once in a while a 14. But 14 everyday seems alittle much to me. So for now I'm sticking with dump trucks.

Sysco did send me an app. In the mail. I filled it out and sent it back. I will call them 2morrow to see whats up with that. Their starting rate is alot better 20.86 also teamsters local 500.

P&D and Line Haul - A. Duie Pyle

I think i will pass on Knight. Plus im sure its not by the hour.

Pyle called me about a year ago for a line haul job. But since i never pulled a VAN before they wouldnt hire me. I pulled tankers, Flats, Dumps and RGNs. I can pull all of them without a problem but i guess i cant handle a VAN. LMAO

I don't know if I would pass up a union job like that. The ot would be real nice, and ya gotta think about the pensions. I wish I could land something like that here in CA, but job market sucks.
